awww.....

I am with @regberadaisy: I actually don't mind it either :) Maybe to her she wouldn't mind it much either so she doesn't get what it meant to you.... but obviously it bothers a lot of parents. you could reflect it to the director so they can make it a policy with their employees?

And yay!!! First steps! :)

Oh man, that would make me sooo sad! Our daycare lady told us that DD was rolling over, but it took us 2 weeks to see it :'(
I'm going to have to tell her to never mention first steps!!

That is a bummer. She should not have said that to you. I was in L's daycare room last week and a baby pulled herself up for the first time. The new girl asked if she should write it on her sheet and the head lady was emphatic that they don't do that- and don't bring it up to the parents either. If they say anything at all, it's "have you noticed LO trying to _____at all lately?"

Then they were joking that I knew their secrets now. I told them it was the right approach!

ETA: I am a doofus and forgot to say congratulations!

I'm sorry she blurted it when you didn't want to know! :(

I actually don't mind it. I love that they are just as excited as we are when she hits milestones. They're kinda like her second set of parents!

Aww that's sucky. It should be a don't tell me it happened EVER rule, not just a don't tell me it happened until I tell you it happened thing.

On Friday, my daughter took her first steps!!

We all know that if you're a working parent you may miss out on seeing your child's "very" first moments like crawling, steps, etc. My daycare workers are very good about not telling us when she does something we haven't seen before. I told them they are absolutely NOT to tell me that she is walking unless I tell them I see it first. Well, I went in this morning and told the morning teacher that she took steps this weekend and she made a funny face like she was trying to hold something in. Then she blurted out, "Oh yeah, she's been doing that for a while." :|

I guess I should be happy that they didn't tell me before I saw it but still, I kind of wish her response had been more of a "Yay!" response than a "Oh yeah, we've been watching her do that forever now."

I think infant room teachers need to go through sensitivity to parents training. Who's with me? :)
