I used a Built neoprene lunchbag (similar to your first link) for full/empty bottles, and it was never stinky by the end of the week. I'm not even sure that I washed it every single week, but it's very easy to just throw it in with everything else on the weekend. As mentioned above, if something leaks a ton, it will leak too, but in general it kept things the right temperature and worked really well.

@jennlin821: Thanks! That is a good reference to stinky factor! I also appreciate the idea of using big ziplocks!

Here is my anecdotal story about my neoprene lunch bag. Last week my lunch leaked all in my bag. A very fragrant ginger-sesame-stir fry sauce.... so when I got home I hung it up in the guest bath to dry out, cause I couldn't do laundry till the weekend. Come this morning, I'm rummaging around the kitchen trying to find my lunch bag when I remembered I never washed it..... Anyways, I stuff my lunch in and off I go. The bag doesn't smell clean, but I its only a problem if I put my nose up to smell it.

I think that the neoprene bag is the way to go. Word of caution though, its not really waterproof. It can hold a lot of liquid, but it will eventually seep though. So I would go with the neoprene bag, and I would also provide a bag for them to put the dirty dishes in too.
When my daughter was still taking bottles, I used to send two ziplock bags, one with the clean bottles, and one for the dirty bottles. I'd just run some hot soapy water through the 'dirty' ziplock and dry it out and send it again. If your looking to be a little more environmentally friendly, check out getting a wetbag (usually used to cloth diapers or swimsuits) but it will do the same job and is washing machine safe.

That neoprene bag looks awesome, I might have to get one!

@Iced Tea: Thanks! My neoprene lunchbox washes pretty well - so I am hopeful! But that only gets gross really on the outside because it gets tossed around.

Any other mommas have experience with milk + neoprene?

Neoprene washes really well. I only use neoprene now for my preschooler’s lunch bags because everything else would get gross. Since we don’t do milk in ours, I can’t say how quickly it might start to smell, but washing is quick and easy—throw in the washer.

If they get stinky quickly, maybe you could line it with a grocery bag or large ziplock to keep drips to a minimum, then just wash each weekend?

This is a dumb question. I have been using 2 igloo insulated tote bags to cart my kiddos' food to daycare. (https://www.target.com/p/igloo-stowe-12-can-cooler-tote---aqua-spacedye/-/A-49118221). I wanted something insulated originally for transporting their bottles, and now I like the insulated tote because their fruit/milks stay cold on our drive to daycare and I can load this same tote up if we are going out and need food (out to dinner at someone's house and I bring a selection of food and the kids' milks).

I just recently followed suit with all the other parents and am leaving a bag at daycare for the teachers to load up with the empty containers as the day goes on. Every other parent does this - I just never did and instead would fish out their containers and cups from the cubby at pick up.

WELL. The teachers rinse their cups most days and their plastic containers every day. So then the wet stuff goes into my bag and festers until pickup. After a week - the bag smells horribly of spoiled milk and I can't seem to fix it. After a good year and a half, I am okay buying a new one. But I want to buy something that isn't going to stink after a week. Preferably something I can toss in the laundry once a week or once every two weeks.....

Then I stumbled onto this bag:
https://www.amazon.com/Everyday-Bag-Insulated-Neoprene-Baby/dp/B06WWLTXFF/.

Do you think Neoprene will get stinky from spilled milk drops? Do you think it will get perma-stinky?

My DH wants me to switch to something like this: https://www.target.com/p/igloo-playmate-pal-maxcold-cooler/-/A-12890364.............HAHA.
