@FaithFertility: My son totally thinks it's hilarious to spit the milk out and make bubbles but it's the only thing that worked so I just make sure he has more than enough. Haha. Kids are funny :) My niece also had to be spoon fed the first week my sister went back to work, I hope your LO is successful this next week so you don't have to stress it. Good luck! :)

@hellocupcake: Thank you! Yes, she will drink from a cup but gets more on her and plays!
Our daycare provider uses it with her too to try to get fluid in her.....lol

Have you tried a regular cup? I was reading about how babies never need a bottle (not even week old babies) and that they might be more successful with a cup since it offers them a bunch of milk at once. We do this with my 9 month old when we need to leave him for a couple of hours. I'm not sure it would work at daycare but just thought I would throw it out there.

@snowjewelz: Me too! I need to look into tutoring and starting Mayne something in home to help.....I'm really looking into it this year!

So far daycare seems to help sleep! ;)

@ShootingStar: Honestly the bottle is so far gone, we tried with relatives and such it is/was a nightmare!

She took 4oz from straw during lunch today :)
She can drink from it like a pro..problem is will she?!?!?

I would send her with bottles. Plenty of times daycare teachers have more success. I don't think there's any way she can drink enough out of a straw cup at that age.

I will always wish to SAH too; I don't think it will ever be in the cards tho! The thing I worry about is sleep when she goes to daycare! I'm hoping and praying for the best outcome!

Give her a bit of time. My LO started really getting the hang of the straw sippie at that time. Leave them with water in it where she's playing, so that she'll have lots of practise. And for what it's worth it doesn't have to be all or nothing with the breastfeeding. I went back to work at 10 months. She took a sippie during the day and breastfed morning, afternoon and bedtime on weekdays and all day on weekends.

7.5 months seems on the young side for a straw cup, is she allowed a bottle at daycare at that age? Would she take a bottle easier than a staw cup?

Also- hugs to you. I felt the same way when I went back to work with LO1 at 12 weeks. I wanted to be at SAHM so badly. In the end, it all worked out. She had great caregivers who treated her like she was their own.

I guess I just really want to SAH! But this year it just isn't doable!!!!!
Definitely something to plan for, for the next babes!!

I know exactly how you feel about conflicted emotions , like how you can make it easier for baby and caregivers when you aren't around by changing what works for you. I have mentioned this to you on other threads, but my baby drinks a couple of ounces from a bottle the whole time I am gone. Like yesterday, he drank 3 ounces barely in 9.5 hours. I nurse him on demand during the night and on my days off. I haven't tried formula but I know he's still growing and thriving, and taking more solids as he grows, and so I just plan to continue what I am doing. He likes trying sippy and open cup and will continue getting better with those. I strongly encourage you to listen to your heart about weaning. Could you maybe just pump one time during the day? Even if it's a quick session, you might get a decent amount out and be able to nurse more on your days off. Just until you are certain you really want to stick with weaning.

Just a thought. I totally get how hard it is. Hang in there mama!@FaithFertility:

@catomd00: @MamaCate:
She is 7.5months
The weaning part is because it doesn't matter if it is breast milk or formula she still will not drink
And it truly is going to be hard to pump at my job and if she isn't going to take the BM either and she likes formula will take it from a spoon no issues....
I am trying to just get her used to the straw at home to help with daycare.... she is smart and will "hold" out for the next feeding if I continue to nurse her

H really wouldn't drink out of a bottle unless she had to at first. Your may reverse cycle. I wouldn't worry about it now because it's still so new. Give in and let her have the boob when she is with you if that's what makes your heart happy.

@FaithFertility: Are you sure you want to switch to formula? You sound really conflicted about it. If LO just started daycare she may need some time to adjust and will take more milk as she gets used to it. Some babies also "reverse cycle" where they don't drink as much during the day and make up for it by nursing more at night when home with mom. I guess I am just wondering if you are sure about weaning because it sounds like you might have some time to keep trying? But whatever works best for you and LO is the most important consideration!

How old is she? If on solids, it isn't as big of a deal if she doesn't drink lots of milk during the day. My 17 month old does completely different things when I am around than when I'm not. I wouldn't stress, she will be fine!

I feel like I need to write out my emotions........lol
DD is/has started daycare
She will not really drink out of anything other than a boob... lol
She is taking about 1-2 Oz from a straw cup at daycare, but will take about 2-4 Oz at home for us!
Anyway, she starts full time Monday and I am trying really hard to stick to a schedule and nurse her in morning and night only and then offer straw cup with lunch and other "nursing sessions" She is just not taking enough and wants to still nurse!
It is so had for me as I too am not ready to cut our BF relationship short!
I've tried BM in the straw cup and it doesn't make a difference so I am using formula during the day and for daycare!
My heart just hurts and I feel like I am not ready for this change at all....
Some days I am ok, others I just want to go back in time and continue being a SAHM!
I just pray she figures it out and takes much more come Monday and is not upset all day!
It hurts my heart so bad to think of her upset because I am not around to nurse her!
It is even harder today as I just want to nurse my baby!
I know what they say if they get hungry/thirsty enough they will eat, I know that.....it it is the crying and her being upset before that just kills me!
Sorry for the rant, just felt like I needed to write this out!
In hopes I am not the only one that has felt this way! :)
