i think old town alexandria is really cute, and it's also not far from mount vernon which is nice to walk around as well.

by the way, our LO is 6.5 months old and we also live in the area! also, wasn't sure if you saw the DC area meetup thread:

@Lozza: Good to hear! I'll try to plan trip to take LO soon.

I missed the 7mo part.... Yeah, I would just go to something that's appealing to you. The aquarium in Baltimore is cool enough, but it's expensive. I amend my recs to say either go to Annapolis or stay in DC... If you want an actual establishment a little more geared to your LO, the zoo is free.

Baltimore also has the science center, port discovery, and the zoo!

@Weagle: My parents took my son to the Children's Museum at National Harbor last week and had a great time. He's almost 2.5 though... I don't think it would be worth it for a 7 month old...

I'd probably vote Annapolis- it's a cute, walkable town, and you could also easily head over to one of the islands (Kent, St. Michael's) and walk around there too.

There's also Harper's Ferry- I've never been, but I've heard it's fun and there's stuff to do.

Annapolis? Colonial Williamsburg? Shenandoah Valley and visit wineries.

National Harbor is a nice place to stay, though I don't know if the Children's Museum is open right now. It was closed for a while, but it's been a long time since I checked the re-opening schedule and I can't remember. The only bad thing about National Harbor is the lack of public transportation. If you wanted to spend time on the mall and in museums (which you could for days), I would stay somewhere on the metro lines.

HI!! I was wondering if you had any family-friendly spots to check out (and even spend the night) in the DC/MD/VA area. We live in the area and we're thinking of taking a trip somewhere with our 7 month old...

Some initial ideas were baltimore (cuz of the aquarium) and national harbor (cuz of the children's museum)...
