Thanks everyone!! I think we may have gotten lucky. DD was only sick for a couple of hours and then miraculously recovered. I was hand washing and disinfecting like crazy, and I am nursing DS so hopefully that will protect him.

If you're nursing then baby is actually less likely to catch it then you are, at least according to our ped. My dd1 had a stomach bug our first night home from the hospital with dd2! Neither of us caught it from her and we really weren't able to keep much distance because dd1 wanted Mama since she wasn't feeling good and I had been gone for 2 days. Good luck!

Ugh, I feel you. Our DD2 was about 2 weeks old I think when our DS and DD1 got a stomach bug. DH had a touch of it too. I just washed hands a ton and tried to keep the sick kids in one room away from the baby. Myself and the baby stayed healthy but it was rough and exhausting!

I've also been there, DD2 was 2 weeks old and DD1 was supposed to go back to daycare the next day and got sick in the middle of the night. The baby didn't get sick, I just made sure they kept their distance from each other and to wash her hands as much as possible and keep her hydrated. I was breastfeeding and she was getting the necessary antibodies! Also, like PP I made a bed on the living floor and let her watch endless TV, it kept her from moving and I was able to keep baby with me or in RNP/swing.

Exactly what @Madison43: said. Keep them apart as much as you can (for me that really wasn't that far apart) and wash hands like a crazy person. I also wiped down door knobs and lights switches and faucet handles with Lysol wipes throughout the day, and took extra precautions after changing poopy diapers- like I put a disposable liner down on the changing pad and washed my hands in scalding hot water. I probably was a little overboard but I did NOT want my 6 week old getting a stomach bug! The toddler just laid on the couch and watched tv wrapped up in a blanket (that I washed that night!).

I've been there and luckily my newborn stayed heathy - obsessively hand wash and try to keep them as segregated as possible.

Help! My three year old DD woke up with a stomach virus this morning (diarrhea and has thrown up once). DS is almost seven weeks old. I'm panicking a little bit because I'm terrified that he will get it. Any advice??
