At least never consistently, we have allowed DD to come in our bed when she's sick or when she's had a nightmare. The second night in her toddler bed she seemed to have a nightmare so we let her come sleep with us, and that has been biting us ever since. Our bed-time routine is pretty solid and she is going to bed fine, it's really the night time wake ups that have been hard.<br /> Update from last night - she started to cry about 30m after I put her in bed. I didn't go in and let her cry for 30m :( She woke up once around midnight and cried for about 5m; and then I heard her fall out of bed at 4am (there is a chair cushion on the floor so she doesn't hurt herself). She cried out, but immediately calmed down so I assumed she had crawled back into bed. It was very hard, but I'm proud of myself for not caving and going in last night. LOL we started to limit it to sleeping and car time. She is drowsy when I do this and I sit next to her and pat her and she falls asleep again. C sleeps on a cot at daycare and used to LOVE her crib, but not screams bloody murder if we put her in it. However, she's perfectly happy to fall asleep on our bed and stay there alone until we come in at night. I kind of figured we'd leave her in the crib until she went to college but I feel like she's telling us she's done at 19 months. Thanks for the success stories, it gives me hope! So far it has been horrible. The first night it took us over an hour to get her to sleep. Since then she has been going to sleep ok, her naps are also fine, but she is waking every...single...night. I have a 3 month old who already keep me up plenty and I seriously can't take it anymore. We have been going in and trying to calm her down and help her get back to sleep, but I think we need to stop. As much as I absolutely hate doing it, I don't see any solution besides just letting her cry it out. When we go in, it doesn't really help, she keeps repeating "mommy bed" - and won't calm down...Generally we end up getting frustrated when nothing works and just leaving her to cry anyway. So I feel like it's time wasted and lost sleep for everyone and we just need to stop going in. His sleep the last week or two was so horribly bad. He hadn't tried to climb out, but didn't seem happy in his crib the way he used to be, and I was desperate to try anything. </p> <p>Best.decision.ever. </p> <p>Seriously, I think the most sleep I got last week was 4 non-consecutive hours, and that was tag-teaming it with D. It was awful. I was really nervous about making the transition, but Friday night E sleep for 10 hours. Straight. (we kept him up a little bit later). Saturday night he slept for 11 hours straight. Sunday night he was up and down, but he also was coughing and congested. She was asleep within 10 minutes and slept for 2.5 hours. She's had no issues with it so far and we took her crib out of her room on the weekend. This past weekend MIL bought DD toddler bedding for her birthday (I asked her to purchase that for her). I converted the crib to a toddler bed in Sunday night. She did not want to sleep in the bed that night. we let her watch the ipad in bed and got her use to it. </p> <p>Yesterday I attempted to have her sleep there and it worked. She started in our bed, when she was sleeping I transferred her to her toddler bed (she sleeps in the same room as us). She woke up and protested but I patted her butt and she went back to sleep. Around 3am she fell out of bed and crawled into bed with us, when she fell asleep again I put her back in her bed, she protested but some more patting she went to sleep and stayed there. </p> <p>I hope night two is a success! </p> <p>Anyone make a successful transition to a toddler/big kid bed? I would love to hear your experiences </p>
