One of the biggest differences for us was the bottle. The only bottle she will take is the Lansinoh mOmma bottle. I know they have them at Target. I'll def check out Mrs. Jacks' post. </p> https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/dd-refusing-to-take-a-bottle#post-493152 Thu, 10 Jan 2013 08:50:00 +0000 SleepyMonkey 493152@https://boards.hellobee.com/ <p>i have the same problem. my LO is almost 11 weeks. she took a few bottles just fine around 4 weeks, but around 6 weeks really began hating them. she knows how to do it, she just refused and cried. it would take 2 hours to get her to drink 2 oz, and that was because it was dribbling into her mouth and she would have to swallow because she was in a reclining position. anyway, we had tommee tippee and i bought MAM, lansinoh momma, and breastflow bottles because those were the ones that i read were good for babies who refused. she has a preference for the lansinoh momma - the nipple seems to be softer than the tommee tippee and it isn't as easy to bend or push out with her tongue because of the way it is shaped. anyway, she latches on easier with this one and will drink it eventually, but it is still quite a battle. we only give her 2 or 2.5 ounces at a time because i don't want to waste any of my breastmilk! strange thing is that she will take a bottle from my mother with no fight. if its anybody else including DH or me, she screams even if i'm out of the house. anyway, good luck. i know it is so so frustrating! </p> https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/dd-refusing-to-take-a-bottle#post-493138 Thu, 10 Jan 2013 08:39:53 +0000 T.H.O.U. 493138@https://boards.hellobee.com/ <p>@winniebee: I agree, have you tried anything with a wide base? My LO took a bottle fine for his first month then we stopped when he finally latched and was EBF. He downright screamed when we tried to give him a bottle at 10-ish weeks. Although she clearly wasn't a fan, she never had a problem with them before (although she has always taken forever to finish a 3oz bottle). I've tried numerous types of bottles, having my husband give it, giving it in a bouncy chair so she's not right up next to me, having her suck on a paci for a few seconds before (though she typically won't take a paci), and so on. </p> <p>Once in her mouth, it's almost like she doesn't know what to do with her tongue. It looks like she's pushing it out rather than pulling in. She ends up crying, gagging, and SCREAMING as if I'm torturing her. It's quite painful to watch.</p> <p>I'm really kicking myself for listening to the LC at the hospital (who I felt was a little extreme), who said to avoid bottles if at all possible. I think if we would have done one daily from Day 1, I wouldn't have this problem. Instead, we were doing closer to one per week - whenever it was an absolute necessity.</p> <p>If it makes a difference, one LC thinks she has a little bit of a tongue tie but another LC there disagreed. The pediatrician wasn't concerned either. And this never seemed to be a problem for her taking a bottle in weeks 1-5 (and doesn't prevent her from latching while BF'g).</p> <p>I'm trying to get her prepped for daycare and would really like to have the freedom to go out for more than 2 hours at a time.</p> <p>Sorry this is so long!
