We have to do similar things at bedtime. DH can't put LO to bed if I'm home, but if I say I need to take a shower or just shut myself in my room before he takes him to bed, it works.

So, as a path of least resistance parent, I would pretend like I am leaving the house too....I totally get it that they want to stay home and play or whatever.

@looch: She's been okay. For instance, one morning i left early to take the car in and she was fine with DH at home.

S pulls this kind of thing now and again and we just push through. I feel like they need to learn who is boss, and taking them back when they tantrum just teaches them to throw a fit to get what they want.

@Mamaof2: DH takes it personally though, and will just bring her back home! Two weeks ago, DD threw up because she was crying so hard. :bummed:

My only advice is to push thru -they obviously don't have a choice. I deal with this all the time. Once at the place the kids are fine

"Yes, I understand you want to be with Mommy but its time for school/gymnastics/etc and daddy is going to take you - yay!"

DD goes to daycare, and i take her 3x a week. I work from home 2x a week and DH will take her on those days. We used to just walk to the train station, but she has been so difficult on the way there that we now put her in the stroller. This morning DD freaked out on DH that she wanted to go home to be with me, and was hanging halfway out of the stroller. I told DH to tell her that i wasn't at home, and that seemed to help. But this is obviously not a long-term solution. What happens when baby #2 comes (which is going to be soon!) and she wants to stay at home every day?

This isn't just for daycare, but when DH takes her to gymnastics or just getting out of the house on the weekends. If i am home, she'll change her mind halfway there and throw a fit, wanting to go back home.
