@regberadaisy: Yeah... I guess different doctors have different opinions on things, but this spray bottle worked well for us... although it may not be for everyone.

@Mrsbells: interesting that your doc specifically reco'd the spray. I'll have to add that to my list of questions to ask at her 4month appointment.

Oh yeah, we did the hot steam and elevated bed thing too. :D

my 3.5 month old also went through this a few weeks ago. Our pediatrician recommended a a saline SPRAY to her nose plus her nose frida. The sprays with the nozzle are tons better than the squeezy bottle drops. This is the one we used (see below) we had been using the little remedies squeezy bottle but you have less control over how much goes in her nose, but the spray/mist bottle below gives a measured accurate amount into each nostril. We also rubbed vicks baby on her chest area on her onesie not directly on her skin, and also used a vicks humidifier and held her in the bathroom with the hot shower running so the steam could clear her up.

I don't remember when you can use it, but we have used baby vics for our daughter (who is two and a half now) and that sort of helps. But there is so little that you can give them when they are that little..... I have also read that you can roll up a towel and put it under the crib mattress so that the baby is slightly elevated. We never tried that, but it might work. Good luck!

@regberadaisy: we used Little Noses, the bottle can be used as either a spray or drops depending on how you hold the bottle. We used it as drops. E hated it with a passion, but it really did help him.

@kiddosc: I was reading online that you shouldn't use the saline spray but rather the drops. My husband of course bought the spray so I was afraid to use it. Which one did you use?

Sounds like a cold, we had something really similar going around our house in the last 2 weeks. Our ped told us to use a cool mist humidifier in his room and to use the saline drops in his nose and suction it out. The saline really helped us get his nose more clear and he could breathe better, so he slept a little better.

It probably is a cold. Unfortunately, I hear it's normal for it to last up to 21 days. :/ Hopefully the worst will be over soon!

M had something similar 2 weeks ago along with a runny nose. I think the cool mist humidifier when she's sleeping really helped with the coughing.

I think my little one, along with DH and I, are dealing with our first cold. She's 3 months old and has had a bad cough for a week now.

I've called our Ped and they don't think its necessary to see her yet, but I just don't know what I'm dealing with. She started coughing last Saturday, it was really dry at the time and she'd have a quick spell and it'd be over. That same day my throat felt scratchy. Since then DH and I are wondering if he and I are dealing with allergies/post-nasal drip because we both have scratchy throats and bad congestion.

Since last weekend her cough has become crackly. She usually has her spells in the morning, evening and over-night. During the day she's very much her usual self. Also, she's been nursing non-stop lately and also has been sleeping HORRIBLY...

Does this sound like a cold or do you think she's dealing with allergies? She's had her first DTap shot and I have a second call into her Ped.
