We do not have a play room at home so Norah's toys are all condensed in an area in our family/living room which kind of reminds me of your space. To the left of the photo, that you can't see because of the angle, is a book shelf with some of her books and her arm chair which is like the one you mentioned. We are now left with this space in our living room. I would like to turn it into a place for our lo to play. The walls are painted over a textured stucco. I don't know if any wall decals would stick?
