He was with the nanny and she got the bleeding to stop and calmed him down. He was pretty cranky that night and didn't want to eat and wouldn't suck his thumb (which is how he self-soothes), but nursed just fine. It was a TERRIBLE night, he finally went back to sleep after giving him some Ibuprofen. He's seemed fine since yesterday morning and is eating and sucking his thumb like usual yesterday and today. Still looks pretty bad but hasn't bleed since the incident. It looked terrible healing, but it is fine now. Hope Xander is doing ok and it doesn't hurt him much more! We went to the ER, but at his age (8 months), getting stitches wasn't worth it. He would have to be anesthetized to get one stitch. He had trouble with certain foods for about 24 hours, but then seemed ok. It looked awful though. I texted a pic to a family friend who's an oral surgeon and he said while they can stitch the tongue they usually prefer not to and to just let it heal on its own. It was bleeding a lot and freaked me out. I called Telecare who told me that unless it was super super severe (ie almost falling off) that the Er Doctor would do very little and it would heal by itself.</p> <p>So we applied pressure to get the bleeding to stop,gave her some frozen things to help with the pain and also some Tylenol. Wounds in the mouth heal more rapidly, but I might get it looked at just in case. It bled for a little bit, but it didn't seem to bleed excessively. He's been complaining about it all night and I finally got a good look at it and it's really deep!!! Like it kind of looks like the cut is half-way through his tongue! I don't think it's still bleeding (or if it is, it's bleeding very lightly), but is there something I should be doing about it???</p> <p>He's going to bed now, but I'll call the pediatrician in the morning if it's still causing him any more pain or if it looks worse. Anyone else's LO experience something like this (or yourself)? Any advice? </p>
