@travelingbrit: Sure! We delayed Hep B, and we're not sure when we'll get that. So far, we go every month and get a few shots. We haven't gotten the third Hib/PCV round yet because LO has been sick for about a month.

2, 4, 6 months- DTap, Rotavirus, Polio
3, 5 months- Hib, PCV

Our pediatrician will not accept patients if they don't follow the vaccination schedule put forth by the AAP. LO is also in daycare and it's very important he stay vaccinated. LO has had no adverse reaction to shots, he's 7 months old.

This is far in the future as we are still TTC, but we plan to use an alternate schedule. Although I'm very much in favor of vaccinating, I want my LO to receive only one vaccination at a time because of my history of seizures and adverse reactions to vaccines, and my neurologist telling me that I most likely had febrile seizures and my LO might too.

I had thought about delaying, but ultimately trusted our pediatricians recommendations. My mom is a nurse and one of the consultants that I work with is married to a pediatrician. I talked to her and felt comfortable with our decision to follow the AAP.

We may delay.... we're actually meeting with the pediatrician today! My husband had a really bad reaction to a vaccine when he was little and was in the hospital for a week and almost died! So he is definitely wary of vaccines.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far....seems like most people went with aap. Still interested in hearing from those that didn't.

We do an alternative schedule. It is very similar to Dr. Sears, but put together by my pediatrician based on her research and recommendations. We're delaying Hep B indefinitely.

Our ped said she supports either the AAP or a delayed schedule. She said delayed shots are nice because if there's a bad reaction it's easier to know which vaccine it was. She said the combined shots are good because LO doesn't have to go through multiple visits/shots/recovery times.
After doing the first round at 2 months, I don't know if I'd have the strength to do the delayed schedule. LO was just so sad getting the shots and I don't want to make him get more than he needs.
I think there are plenty of good reasons to delay, but doing the standard route has worked so far for our family.

Our ped recommends following the reg schedule. They charge extra to delay. We decided to just go ahead and do all the shots at once. Luckily my little guy was fine and had no adverse reaction.

I am doing an alternate/delayed schedule as per recommended by a naturopath. My LO still sees a regular ped but we also see a naturopath (i like options and different opinions), mostly to discuss things like vaccinations since it is a very important issue to me.

LO is fully vaccinated against whooping cough and we wont do any other vaccines until she is 1-2 years old. Then, we will get on a more regular vaccination schedule but will be doing many one at a time, like separate M, M, and R.

The only vaccine I am going to be wary of is the Tdap, and it's not because I don't want to vaccinate-- when I got it as a baby it knocked me unconscious for 30 mins, so I will be discussing when/if/how the baby should get it, in case there is a chance LO could have issues. I am very pro-vaccines, and very pro-tdap, because whooping cough seems to be having a comeback... but, that's me and my baby! Good luck, these are hard decisions :)

I was thinking about doing the alternate vaccination schedule with my second, but the Pediatrician doesn't support it and charges a co-pay for every "extra" visit. So I just figured I would proceed with the normal route. We haven't had too much of a reaction to shots thus far and we've been through a lot (I have an almost 3 year old and a 10 month old). It's a tough decision that is one of those "doesn't have a RIGHT answer," so good luck!

@regberadaisy: yeah same here (although thats only 1 shot so far)

Our ped believes in vaccinating, but unless kid is in daycare is open to alternate schedules. Otherwise she follows the AAP reccomendation.

I've always wanted to try an alternate schedule and her ped was on board. But because I haven't had time to do in depth research myself I've just been following her ped's recommendation.

Knock on wood; she hasn't had any adverse reactions thus far.

B turned 1 month today and it got me thinking about his 2 month shots.

Ive seen lots of discussion here about fevers and reactions after the shots. Ive also read on think twice about a link between the tdap shot and SIDS (although heavily debated).

How many have chosen to delay vaccinations? Which schedule are you following?

I do want to vaccinate, just not sure about getting it all at once.
There was a thread on this months ago, but i know theres been a lot more births since then.
I trust bees to keep this friendly and not get too heated since its a hot button issue.
