@ladybee: 3 months!? Geez! They told me I'd just have to wait 1 month (when I got the vaccine I had to sign a release form saying I understood the risks if I was to become pregnant within a month of the vaccine). Then just wait for the blood work to come back to confirm I'm immune, which takes around 2 weeks, so 6 week wait in total before treatment.

I'm kin the US and also came back as not immune to Rubella. I was told that some peoples immunity simply runs out. My RE wanted me to get a booster and told me that I would need to wait 3 months before trying. Well I was already on Clomid and had ovulated which turned out to be my BFP cycle so I never got it. I work in a school and was worried but my RE reminded me there was nothing I can do. I remember trying to decide if I would get it because at that point I felt desperate and 3 months was too long.

I hope you get your diagnosis soon!

I just wanted to update!

I got my Rubella vaccine on Tuesday. Today I went in to my RE just to pick up the requisition for the blood work to confirm my immunity, but I brought my more assertive husband with me lol. He was able to reason with them and now I have an appointment to get diagnosed this coming Tuesday!! They said I still can't start treatment until I am shown immune to Rubella, but I can at least get a diagnosis and start preparing for what's to come! Yay!!

So I noticed in my multitude of blood tests today that one of them was Rubella! I wasn't in the mood to ask any questions (and it was just a medical assistant anyway). I'll be referring back to this thread if I have any issues :)

I agree with what some others have said, get the vaccine but in the mean time call and ask for a thorough explanation. I would go into it with the end goal of getting them to diagnose you and develop a game plan that can be started 6 weeks from now assuming you come back with antibodies. I would ask what will happen if you don't build antibodies to it so you know what happens then, I don't know the details but I know sometimes immune disorders can impact fertility so it may tell them something. I would also find out if any part of the plan could be started before the 6 weeks are up, if they need to induce your period it seems to me they could safely do that at the 5 week mark for example.

I hope they can help you come up with a happier plan. Waiting for what feels like no reason at all is one of the most frustrating things ever, I would be super annoyed too!

I totally get your frustration and I'm sorry you're facing this. It sounds like you can't switch doctors, so like some suggested I would definitely push to talk to the RE and ask that question specifically, why you can't talk about diagnosing and other test results. I feel like they could build a plan around your other test results, and just wait to start it until you're immune? Unfortunately I think some REs are much more sensitive to the pain of waiting than others  hugs while you are dealing with this!

@pui: I haven't read through the whole thread but I think you are right to get the vaccination. However, I really don't understand why you would have to wait for diagnosis? Waiting one month to do treatments makes sense because that is what the CDC recommends but diagnosis? Makes no sense. And why even bother getting tested for it again? I was not immune but no one retested me after I got the booster. This is because you might just be one of those people who can't develop immunity. What are they going to do in that case? Deny treatment to you?

@pui: I'd go ahead and get the immunization, but have them explain in painful detail why they can't move forward with diagnosing until you find out that you're immune. It's ridiculous that they keep putting you off. I know finding a new RE would take longer, but it sounds like they just keep putting you off more and more! so frustrating!!

@spaniellove: No they haven't said anything like that. I'm actually more afraid that they'd just be like "Oh well let's just go ahead then" after I waited 6 months specifically for this lol. I mean, that'd be good I guess I just would be hurting over the wasted time.

@pui: Have they specifically said to you that after you've had the vaccine again, if you still don't have immunity they won't move forward? If not, I think they could work with you since they'd have documentation that you'd made a reasonable effort. And you will cross that bridge when and if you get there.

@pui: I really don't mean to seem insensitive or dismissive. I understand how agonizing waiting days--let alone weeks!--feels. Have you asked for an earlier diagnosis appointment? I would start there. The next thing I would do is STEP AWAY FROM DR. GOOGLE! Don't make this harder on yourself than it already is . . . don't read post after post of unexp. IF and how long it took to get that diagnosis. Don't do that to yourself because THAT'S NOT YOU. Just try to take it one step at a time. Big (((hugs)))!

I think it's pretty frustrating that they won't even bother to move forward with your diagnosis given that they've already done testing on you and can most likely give you an idea of what's going on there. It might be that they're working with regulations, because I remember when we did IVF there were rules about being tested for all kinds of things like immunity and STDs. They're most likely thinking of you as a future pregnant woman, and their goal is to have every pregnant woman immunized. Chances are your immunity wore off and you just need a booster...if you do get the booster and still don't have immunity, that is a battle for another day...
