A simple breakfast at a cafe close by (like poached eggs with baguette slices), a great cup of coffee, a walk along the water with DH, and our day fully planned but not overly busy.

@Mae: i miss weekend mornings in bed with DH! My favorite :)

@mrbee: I don't make crusts for my quiches! We make quiches fairly often, and keep it in the fridge to eat for breakfast throughout the week.

waking up slowly, getting ready for a day at the beach, finding a yummy place for some breakfast and an iced coffee, followed by a morning of reading junky magazines or my kindle at the beach....

This morning is many months away....so sick of winter.

A Sunday morning when we don't need groceries. I wake up at 6am and get a shower and all my getting-ready stuff in before my daughter wakes up at 7 or 7:30 (this really happens sometimes on weekends!!) We eat breakfast and then head off to Marbles museum for some play time around 9:30. We stay until 11:30 and then walk to a local restaurant for lunch. We eat a quick lunch out (no dilly-dallying with a toddler) and then head home for naptime! In the afternoon, I get to relax on the couch and catch up on the latest GoT book I'm reading.

My absolute ideal would be waking up to a clean house, going for a morning swim or surf session and then out to breakfast with DH and LO. Yesterday was pretty close to perfect in a real world sense. It was impromptu, which I love to be when my energy is high. I told DH since he can sleep in, he needs to clean the house while I am out with LO. Then I grabbed take out and took her on a long beautiful drive to an awesome playground she loved. I watched her chase ducks, make friends and test new physical skills. Being up and outdoors with the early risers is quite fun for me. I am usually stuck in the house in the routine.

I'd wake up to a perfectly clean and orderly house! (This alone would be ideal, but I have an active imagination, so let's continue, shall we? ;) ) My husband would have already made the coffee (he's superb at it!), so I would pour some in a lidded cup, grab my keys and bag and we'd all get into the car (someone else handled waking up LO and dressing him), and we'd drive to the beach where the local park would be open just for us. We all watch sunrise on the beach, see a few dolphins frolicking in the surf, then we go for a long walk down the beach, followed by fresh chocolate croissants, fruit, and cappuccinos.

I need to make this morning happen!

Okay, well it starts with DH feeding E her porridge, though, and making coffee while I shower. Then maybe we'd all go out for breakfast. E would be in a good mood and there would be lots of smiling and laughing.

Does it count if I say "D gets up with the baby" instead of "sleeping in"?

My current ideal morning is him taking first shift, starting the coffee and a pan of grit and waking me when it's all ready, and then having breakfast with my husband and a happy toddler.

5 years ago my ideal morning involved black and blue crepes from this great place in Philly. D and I would walk up there, have brunch and then pop into a local pet store.

@Mrs. High Heels: Actually you make a great point... you get really good at tossing things while you're a paperboy! Unfortunately it's not really a marketable skill... but even today I can toss a diaper and hit the trashcan a good percentage of the time.

@mrbee: I guess cuz I watched too much old school TV with paperboys in them so I always thought it'd be fun… waking up before the world wakes up, riding your bike through the neighborhood, and tossing the paper so that it lands perfectly in front of someone's doorstep! And perhaps getting a chance to know your neighbors while you're at it~

@mrbee: Oooh, that's a toughy, because I used to hate ALL pastries after working in a bakery for 2 years (the first time I'd ever been to one, too, so I was ruined right away).

But now I love these raspberry and cream cheese filled crispies (we call them elephant ears, but these are folded over and filled). Awful for you, but so darn good. After that, any caramel apple pastry or custard filled and chocolate covered doughnuts are close seconds.

@Mrs. High Heels: I sometimes feel like being a paperboy is what got me into media... and eventually, blogging!

As for being a paper-person, it is an immensely boring job... plus you have to wake up at 4 or 5 am. I don't miss it!! The one part that was neat was feeling like you were reading the news before everyone else... but now with the internet, it's not quite the same.

You took away my favorite option, I love sleeping in. ;-)

So, after waking up to a nice leg massage from DH, I'd want to take a long shower, go for a walk outside on a nice morning, head to the bakery for a pastry and hot chocolate date with him, and then hit a few little local shops to browse. Once LO arrives, insert baby snuggles and baby wearing on our walk into there, too. :-)
