The only thing is that OPKs are not confirmation of O--they just indicate the hormonal surge that *might* bring O. I never really got a positive OPK, so I switched to BBT and checking CM and cervix position, and that's when we got our BFP. I only charted BBT for 2 cycles before I got KU.

Seeing all the different responses give me hope!

The months I temped my chart was all. over. the. place since I don't get consistent sleep so it was getting really frustrating! This month I seem to have pretty consistent CM and I think I'm getting the hang of "reading" my cervix position! Guess we'll know if a few days! *wink wink*

I tried OPK and CM checking, but neither worked for me. I also felt like I could never feel my cervix. For me, temping each morning was the only way I could chart.

I do. I just track CM and then once I see EWCM, I do OPKs twice a day. This has worked pretty well for me so far!

ETA: I have to do the OPKs because I get like five days of full on EWCM and if I didn't do an OPK, I would think I O'ed early that I usually do.

My CM was never reliable, and my CP was nearly impossible to check. So for me, it was a combo of BBT and OPKs that did it - I think you could be successful with just the OPKs (though occasionally, you may get a false positive/surge when you're not ovulating). If your CM is consistent, then CM/OPK combo should work out well!

I didn't chart but I tracked my CM with Fertility friend and we got pregnant our first cycle trying. My changes in CM are pretty obvious! !!

@runsyellowlites: so glad you asked this. I think I've said it on here before but, I hate bbt. When I was trying to conceive, my family doctor told me the MOST important factor in detecting ovulation is ewcm. She said many women don't change temp or it's too short for them to catch it. In 8m of TTC, I never detected a drop in my bbt. Ever. I did have ewcm the month I got pregnant as well as a raised uterus.
I used cheap op strips but I only used those to guide in me into the window-frame and then I'd just look at the signs my body gave me.

For #1 we were NTNP and conceived that way. With #2, I read up about CM (I found the info on fertility friend very helpful) and we timed BDing according to that. I'm now about 9 weeks pregnant. It took us about 3 cycles of CM monitoring for it to happen though. I didn't use anything else.

We primarily used CM and only BBT as confirmation. I never used opks. We use a type of NFP called the Creighton Model, and.that focuses on CM. We had been using it to avoid for 2 years and just used it to get pregnant as well. I like it a lot!

I know that you can figure out close to when you ovulate by just CM and CP. I think if you used OPK's that might make it even easier. I charted, used OPK's, checked CM and CP but I had a hard time checking CP and CM usually stayed fertile for alot of days so it would have been hard for me without OPK's at least.

Does anyone track their cycle by CM & cervical position only? After attempting to chart my bbt for 4 cycles, still having wonky sleep, and constantly losing my thermometer (I don't have a night stand with our sidecar set up) I've given up trying to temp. Is this even possible to do or would I need to add something like OPK's to detect?
