@FutureMrsMCK: my DS is 2 years old. he's at a fun stage where he loves to play, but he always makes a mess. so it's always clean-up time after he goes to sleep.

@DisneyBee: Aw, how old is your DS? Mine is almost 7 months and has little interest in toys--he is at a "must put all the things in my mouth" stage (he's teething, though).

My DH is also out tonight with his co-workers at a hockey game. So it's just me and DS tonight....he'll probably be home around 10 or 11 PM. just playing with DS (building blocks and throwing the tennis ball back and forth is his favorite).

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Haha such a pleasure! I started watching it on Netflix right after DS was born at my mom's suggestion--saw me through many a nursing session. I watched through the end of Series 4, and at the time Netflix had The End of Time 1&2 categorized separately, unbeknownst to me, so when I started Series 5 I was so upset because suddenly there was Matt Smith and I had NO IDEA where David was. I'm a little embarrassed, but I cried on the phone to my mother...then she directed me to The End of Time. I don't know if I would have handled losing David any better if I had watched those before starting Series 5, but not doing it was very jarring and upsetting and really soiled Matt from the get-go. #nerdalert ;)

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Yep, I still have a HUGE crush on DT and miss Rose like crazy. I was meh about Martha, and it took a few rewatches to like Donna. I was so-so about the Ponds, and was pretty bitter about River (at first, now upon rewatch I like her story-line). I like Clara a lot so far, she really interests me.

@FutureMrsMcK: I looooved David Tennant, and I was really upset when Matt took over too! I finally got over my crush on David and am really liking Matt and his kooky nature. I just had a really heard time letting go of Rose and the Doctor. And I was never a huge, huge fan of Amy, so I'm really looking forward tomore of Clara, because she's so sassy! Lol

@Running Elley: Well, he still cries a little bit most nights, but it's a soft whiny cry, and he's usually asleep in less than 5 minutes, and that took maybe 3-4 nights. Probably a third of the time he'll fall asleep with no fuss at all, and half of that time it will be after he's rolled around in the crib chewing on his lovey for a few minutes.

I didn't want to do it. I dreaded it. But I honestly believe it was the best move for all three of us. Our bed isn't big enough to co-sleep with an older infant, not with our little squirmy bed-hog. We're all sleeping better now (and he's sleeping longer). It was hard, but it was worth it for us.

@FutureMrsMcK: I have a feeling that's what we'll need to do. How long before he started going down easier? I'm dreading it but really hoping it'll work!

@travelgirl1: It was really hard deciding to do it. We were co-bedding before this (until around 5.5 months). DH had to talk me into it. The first 2 or 3 nights I sat outside his door with the video camera feed up and cried. After that it was a lot easier, and it got a lot easier to assess the cry and whether or not it was a cry I needed to respond to ASAP.

@Running Elley: Unfortunately I think what we do is harder than normal CIO. Well with normal CIO you go in and comfort them at 5, 10, 15 minutes? We tried that, but E would get more hysterical every time we went in until he was so worked up he couldn't calm down. So we set a time limit of 15 minutes. After we do our bedtime stuff and put him down if he starts to cry I will let him go for up to 15 minutes. But if his cry is an "I'm really tired and just fighting it" cry I'll let him go a bit longer; if it's an "I'm really angry/upset/not going to wind down" cry I'll go in sooner than 15 minutes (I can usually only last 5-10 with that one). If I go in I'll nurse him until he's calm again (but not asleep).

He does still cry a bit before bed every night, but after the first few days it was >5 minutes, and just a whiny cry, not a seriously upset cry. Except last night, last night was hell, but I think it was his teeth + all the milestones he's hit in the past week or so. He went down really easily tonight.

@FutureMrsMcK: Thank you : ) I feel like it is CIO but in my arms, it's so so sad, I hate it. Thinking of waiting another month before we decide on sleep training, but I think it will be a slow month. I just don't know what to do for the best for her. Ahhhh now I want a beer. Ha ha.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: I have been so-so about Matt Smith--I loved 9 and 10 SO much that it took me a long time to accept him. And there was just something about 11 that was off-putting to me. Then I realized that while Chris Eccleston and David Tennant brought a very human quality to the role Matt Smith brings an alien quality--which is good, since he's supposed to be an alien. But realizing that made it easier for me to finally accept him. And I'm so curious/excited about Clara. I've loved her so far, and me, my mom, my brother and SIL have been batting around theories about her on FB since Christmas.

@travelgirl1: It's really good beer--Troegs Perpetual IPA.

Oh, poor baby. I can definitely empathize. DS was like that--he would only ever fall asleep in my arms mid-nursing or curled into me (in our bed). If I even shifted my weight he'd wake up screaming. We finally did an altered CIO at 5.5 months, and he's been sleeping in his crib since. The first few nights were torture for me, and he still usually cries for a few minutes before nodding off, but it's a vast improvement. I hope A stays down for you tonight!

Drinking beer? That sounds like a damn good way of making the most of it to me!

I'm just chilling out on the laptop. After A's 'armpit sleep' earlier she woke up and rather than face another meltdown I handed her to DH to get to sleep. He really struggled with listening to her cry in his arms but she's nodded off now. Now we're both scared to put her down in case she wakes up. Ha, our lives are totally dictated by a 16-week-old. Seriously. We're talking in whispers.
