You can and will do it! My DH traveled full time for an entire year after DD was born (was back on weekends). It was hard but it gave me incredible confidence in myself as a mom to know that I could hack it on my own. You'll be ok!

aww! you can do it! my DH used to travel sooo much for work (before lo) and i HATED it! i agree though, military wives, especially those with LOs are super strong because i could never live that lifestyle.

you can do it!! i would find it hard too, b/c i rely on dh so much...
maybe plan some small fun thing every day beforehand so you have something to look forward to -- ice cream date, breakfast for dinner, rent a movie, etc! :)

@Rescuemom10: wow -- you and your dh are amazing :). i would be so interested in reading a guest post on the logistics and feelings around your situation :). what you guys do to make it work, what is difficult, how excited you all must be when it is homecoming time! anyway... no pressure or anything lol :)

You can do it! It will go by fast!!! I promise! ; )
DH is gone for 1.5 years (in the first 6 mos I may see him for a day or two here and there). He has been gone 5 weeks already. It has really sucked but with a LO they take so much of my time up it helps pass the time fast.

DH is coming home tomorrow from a 3 week trip!

You can do it! Just stick to your normal routine, watch a bunch of girly movies and the week will be over before you know it!

I totally understand! DH and I have spent very little time apart. We have been together for 6.5 years and married last summer, but have been living together for almost 3. He moved in after he had to go away from training for work for 8 weeks. It killed us!! Before that he still lived at home with his mom, but spent most nights here. Then he left, when he came back he moved in and we got engaged soon after. Now, I think we have spent max 3 nights in a row apart, but are constantly in contact-thank goodness for text and email!!

You can do it!
My longest was 10 days while both Lo and I were sick! Omg I thought I was gonna die.. But I made it!
I also solo'd with 2 recently when my dh went to Germany for a week!
Since your inlaws are close by, I would hang out with them often!g
Good luck!

And I am so nervous about solo parenting. I feel silly for stressing out so much about it. Half the week he works 12 hour shifts and isn't much (or any) help with DS anyway. E is usually asleep by the time he gets home.

I also feel sort of pathetic because I am (as DH put it) "attached". I haven't spent longer than a weekend away from DH in 6.5 years. I'm spending tomorrow and Sunday night down with my ILs to ease me into it. I don't know how military wives do it! (or anyone else who solo parents for lengths of time).

Tell me I can handle this and to put my big girl panties on!
