@septemberlove: When I get home from work, there are sometimes a full bottle or two out, leftover from daycare. I will ask my DH how long they've been out and if she drank anything from them... he often says, "I don't know how long it's been" or "I can't remember if I offered her any." It drives me bananas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've explained over and over that it's a big deal if I have to throw it out! I've tried to get him to pour 1 oz into another bottle to test whether she's hungry before offering a full bottle, but he "forgets"! Ughhhhhh! He thinks I'm a nag because I keep trying to get information about the bottles when I get home, but I can't just take "I don't know/don't remember" for an answer when it means throwing out 5-10oz that I worked very hard to get (probably 45-90 min pumping).

I used to have a freezer stash. Between DH's "oh we have plenty!" attitude and the 6 week growth spurt, it's gone and I'm pumping feed to feed, which stresses me out! We have to fortify the BM so once it's heated up, it either goes in baby or goes down the drain. I'm very stingy about what I let DH heat up, I'd rather him have to go back and prep a second bottle than waste an oz.

@swurlygurl: yeah, I went into the nursery and fed dd while crying a little.

This is the reason why I always freeze my milk.. I am WAY more careful than anyone else and If I spill it/forget about it, I get upset, but if its someone else I get irrationally mad at them. Yes, pumping sucks that much!

@LaineysMom: I would have broken down in tears immediately! (It takes me 4 pump sessions to get that much!)

DH refuses to touch any breast milk, for fear that he will spill and I will cry. This is probably a good thing...

@BlueWolverine: yeah, I had to cool off for a good 2 hours. I think since he knows how big the stash is he thinks its no biggie, BUT I look at 10 oz. and think of the 30 min of my life I just wasted hooked up to a pump.. Beyond the time I have an emotional tie to my milk, regardless of the excess I may have. LoL

@BlueWolverine: DDs daddy sprayed cleaner around bottles that I was about to cap then convinced me that they were contaminated and needed to be thrown out. It was 10 oz... Even though I have a pretty significant stash I was pissed and even cried a little. Haha. I told him to not talk to me for a while so I could get over it. :)

He's a lucky man!

I've actually done worse though-- I still feel awful about this: I was babysitting for a friend, just for a few hours, and she'd left 2 bottles for the baby. I didn't realize that there was some lid inside of the nipple, so the baby wasn't getting anything and I thought she just wasn't hungry, somehow, and by the time I figured it out, the whole FULL bottle of breastmilk had been out for hours and probably had been contaminated, since the baby was trying to suck. I couldn't believe I wasted an entire bottle on her, I felt so, so bad.

@MamaMoose: that is hilarious. my husband once left about 4 oz out after a night feeding so it was a goner by the time i found it the next day. i really had to enter a place of zen with that incident.

@BlueWolverine: i'm also stressed by not pumping enough for each day. i've added an extra session at night before i go to bed to try and make up some of the difference.

I usually nurse in the mornings but one day LO had a rough night and was still sleeping when it was time for me to go so I pumped some milk for hubs to give her before day care. Well she left about an ounce in the bottle and hubs just left it out on the counter the whole day because "we have plenty, so it's not a big deal". I almost murdered him. It was only an ounce but I was so mad he left it out on purpose. I told him I was going to attach the pump to HIM until an ounce of liquid came out so he would learn his lesson.

@BlueWolverine: Oh, man, I totally feel your pain! I did something similar yesterday. I had 2 oz in 2 collection bottles and when I went to dump one of the collection bottles into my LO's drinking bottle, I accidently dumped the other 2 oz bottle I was holding in my hand. Sad day... liquid gold all over the counter. I am really trying to get to 6 mo without formula/solids as well (despite not pumping enough at work to cover), and totally understand how precious every ounce is! Only 1 more week for me! I hope you will be able to make your goal.

He spilled two ounces of breast milk this morning. I have to leave right as LO is waking up or is still sleeping, so I pump first thing in the morning and DH gives her a bottle (he works from home and does day care drop off). This morning he was "so tired" that he spilled two ounces. I played it off and just asked if he still had enough for her bottle. Then I went back to getting ready for work.

I spilled once so I'm not really that angry, just sad. I'm working very hard to get her to 6 mo on breast milk only and every ounce is precious! We're totally fine when we're together all day and she nurses, but I don't pump enough during the day, typically, to get her through the next day. I have to pump on weekends and sometimes use freezer stash, which is dwindling fast. Only 1.5 mo to go. Even then, I'm not super exicted about introducing formula.
