Thanks everyone! I think I'm just going to keep it simple and take what I have for now, but I will ask my midwife at my 8 week appointment.

I just asked my midwife about DHA this morning-- she basically said, sure, take it if you want to. I'm 16 weeks in and just started taking it right now (like literally, I just swallowed!). She basically said, it's been shown to be good for brain development, but it's a new recommendation and women have been having smart healthy babies without it for years, so it's up to you. I am going to start taking it now but I wouldn't stress about not having taken it before.
You also get omega 3s from food sources, fish (which I know you said you don't eat), flax, avocado, I think?

I'm taking Materna and a DHA supplement also. I take it right before bed so it doesn't taste 'fishy'.

I think you're fine. You're taking something, which is better than nothing!

I guess I don't really have any advice except to say that I've been taking the same prenatal (One a Day) for my entire pregnancy! My doctor never even mentioned DHA to me at all as something I need to take, so I figure that any is better than none!

My best friend took the same prenatal and her daughter (now 3) seems just fine and very bright, so I think you're probably fine. :)

I started taking a prenatal vitamin - One A Day Women's Prenatal with DHA. However, I am reading that the recommended amount of DHA is 300mg, and this only has 200mg. Should I add an omega 3 supplement? I've read omega 3s are vital for brain development, and I haven't been taking prenatals or eating any fish since I have been (unknowingly) pregnant, so I want to make sure I am doing what I need to now!
