It cuts wayyyyy down on the smell. Perfect size, and they contain the stank.<br /> I know you said you don't want to spend money, but I've seen the ubbi on sale recently on amazon. I'd also look at amazon warehouse. That is money I would spend over and over and over. I throw the solid poop in the toilet when I can. I also package stinky diapers in lightly scented dog poo bags and then tie them and put them in the garbage (sounds like a pain, but it takes two seconds). And sometimes I sprinkle baking soda in there if its getting stinky.
