My LO gets diaper rash very easily. I've stopped using wipes and just use some Viva paper towels and a bottle of water mixed with a few drops of baby oil and a teaspoon of baby soap. Seems to be gentler on her skin than the wipes. I've used Desitin, Triple Paste, Butt Paste, and Earth Mama Angel Baby but haven't found one I love yet. Also, I usually use Swaddlers diapers but had a package of Earth's Best. The first time I used them she got horrible diaper rash. I think they just didn't pull the wetness away from her skin as well as the Pampers.

Goodluck! I agree with making sure he is dry first, I also use a wet washcloth to wipe my baby

Update: Just left the doctors office. Baby Nolan has thrush in his mouth and apparently has a diaper rash directly related. As I type this I am waiting to pick up his medicines at the pharmacy. Hopefully it will get better soon.

Air drying and a wet washcloth can help. Make sure he's dry before putting diaper back on. Also change the diaper frequently

Have you tried Triple Paste? That was recommended by our pedi and it worked to clear up LO's diaper rash.

I am new to these boards and I am hoping that someone can help me with a solution.
My son has really terrible diaper rash, but is going to the doctor tomorrow.
Let me give you all a little background: Oct 27- a Family emergency needed my attention urgently. So I packed up some stuff for the baby and I and we drove to my families home. While we were at my families home taking care of business (and the small family business); I ran out of his regular diapers but wasnt too concerned because my mother had diapers on hand for him. The diapers she had on hand however were not his normal diapers. After a day or so of using the diaper I noticed that his bottom was a little red so I set out to get diaper rash cream in case it got worse. The next couple days the diaper rash got worse and better and then worse again (regardless diaper rash ointment).
I arrived home friday November 2 and got our son back in his normal diapers. I had hoped that the combination of normal diapers and diaper rash cream that his bottom would get better. It does look better but I still feel so bad that he is not comfortable. I feel like the worse mom because I can't get simple diaper rash to go away....
Like I stated earlier in the post he is going to the doctor tomorrow afternoon hopefully she can give me some suggestions. I am looking for remedies that have worked to sooth his skin until I see the doctor.

Thanks for reading.
