Yikes- I thought my size 1s were too big so I got more newborns (9 lb and almost 4 weeks) should I be in 1s? Plus I have like 4 huge boxes of 1s from my shower...

I'd move up a size, too. We went to size 2 right around two months old/12 lbs.

We just moved my 14.5 lb baby to size threes. She has always moved up before the weight limit because I like the diaper to come up high on her back to contain blowouts. Once the diaper is fitting way below her belly button we start to move to the next size.

Oh, I'd go up a size and wouldn't open the box if I were you! If the thigh area and waist area is tight, that's when I move up.

I think J was in size 3 at 2 months. (14.5lbs). I wanted him to be comfy. I'm gonna move him up to size 4s as soon as I'm done with our current box of diapers. (he's about 20lbs now).

I think we switched LO to size 2 around that age. I'm not too sure when it's the "right" time to move up a size either but I remember I switched her when she was having WAY too many back diaper blow outs! LO is 13.5 pounds right now and still wearing size 2s and I have no idea when to move her to size 3!

I like the tabs to overlap in front. If I find that I am really pulling to make that happen, then I go up in size. I moved LO to size 3s even though he's only 15.5 lbs and 2s technically go up to 18lbs...I feel like a bigger diaper that's taped snugly is better than a smaller diaper that's stretched to fit.

I like both the front and the back to go up high (to mid back and to belly button) if the diaper isn't big enough to do that, then it's too small for us!

@Smurfette: I would not open the box of size 1s I would just go to size 2
I usually just try the next size up when I am running out of a box and the current size feels a bit tight

We moved LO to size twos at 11 pounds. Probably should have bumped her up sooner, but I stubbornly wanted to use up our size ones.

I think if you are questioning it now, then you probably won't go thru that entire box...LO moved up to size 2 around 3 months I think...maybe even a bit before :)

@Smurfette: Sweetie, Em is 12 pounds and in size 2 diapers. Has been for a full week. I'm thinking you need to return them ASAP.

This is probably a stupid question but how do you know you need to go up a size in diapers???

R will be 2 months on Saturday and currently is in size 1. I just ordered a big box from Amazon but now I am wondering if we should go up once we go through the ones we have opened. She is lucky and inherited her Mom's chunky thighs so the diapers are tight on her legs but they don't seem uncomfortable to her. The waist still seems big on her. The tabs are still touching. We go on Tuesday for her 2 month appointment but I am guessing she is 11lbs since she was 9.14 at her one month, which was 5 weeks.

I don't want to open the new box unless we will use the whole 234 diaper.
