@Tanjowen: I think it is likely your LO's shape will change a bit and you can get more use out of the bigger sizes. My friend's son was a chunky monkey and wore 6s no problem until he was potty trained at 3 (she said he was in 6s before his first birthday!)

My LO has a long torso and was pretty chubby, I sized up quickly because of blow outs and he was in size 4s at 4 months old!!! He's 21 months and STILL in size 4s, and actually at daycare he often wears 3s! So you never know.

My LO actually went down a size as she started walking more and slimmed down, so you might be ok. She was a size 3 until around 7 months, then size 4 until 14 months, and then back to size 3 and still there at 17 months.

I second that you may be able to get away with a smaller size than you think, especially as your LO gets older and slims out. My 10 month old wears 4s because she has a really long body (and currently a round little tummy). Her 2 yr 8 month sis wears 4s overnight (she's potty trained), and until a few weeks ago wore the 3's overnight bc it was just easier than buying a separate size. It's not like at her age you worry about baby poo blowouts up the back so small diapers were fine for us.

@Tanjowen: DD1 moved into 5s pretty early and stayed there till potty training. You can buy bigger sizes online!

My guy is 2.5 and off the charts size-wise (we go tomorrow, but at 2 he was 35 lbs and 38"), and he's still fine in Pampers Cruisers size 5. I don't think he'll ever even use the 6's before we potty train. You might need to try a different brand if the Target ones run small. But I agree with others that growth definitely slows down. He's been in the same clothes since fall, which never happened before!

Mine was in 5s early too and at 24 months he still is. He's fairly tall too- 35 inches and 30lbs.

@Tanjowen: They definitely slow down in growth as well. My DS is 37" tall and 31 pounds. He's a big dude.

Same as @2littlepumpkins. DS was in 5 before 18m, and at 25m is still wearing them.

@Tanjowen: I think we went up to fives around that time, definitely before 18m, and she never went past that. She's 2.5, about to potty train, and still in 5s. Pampers cruisers tend to be higher so she stayed longer in smaller sizes in those, since we already had a bunch.

Different brands fit differently. I found that Pampers tend to fit larger.
Also, his shape may change as he gets older. My son was in size 5 at 12 months but then ended up wearing size 5s for months even though he grew bigger and heavier.

My 10 month old is in size 5 already so I've thought about this too. But my older son has been in size 6 for a while. The bigger sizes last longer.

Someone told me you can find size 7 at BRU, but that they are expensive. My LO is ten months and very slim but also super long so I just moved him to 4s so we aren't there yet!

LO is 14 months and moving into size 5 Target brand diapers. It's not an issue of weight, but more his height and hips I think.

From what I can tell from checking out all the brands in the store, diapers only go up to size 6, and at the rate we are moving through the sizes, we should reach there quite soon. So as a clueless first time mom here, what happens if you go past size 6? Did your LO slow down and stay in size 5-6 for a bit, or did you have to go to pull-ups? We won't be doing any potty training for quite some time.
