@Corduroy: Aw so she's a light sleeper? I'm saying even if she hasn't pooped at that point, if she gets to poop in a fresh diaper it's less likely to become a poopsplosion :)

Thanks ladies. We got some Huggies Overnights yesterday and tried them out but of course she didn't poop this morning.

@Seattlemom: luckily we haven't had any issues with diaper rash. I think she must poop within an hour or so before she wakes up. Or pooping wakes her up.

@Mrs. Tiger: I won't even dare open her door at night. I can't imagine a diaper change. I don't think she's pooping that early luckily.

@birdofafeather: interesting on the probiotics. LO eats huge amounts (hasn't hit the pickiness stage) and has 2-3 poops during the day. I wonder what probiotics would do to her schedule.

@delight: yeah, cruisers are the worst. And I have a whole case of them to get through... Luckily I also have some swaddlers, so I use the cruisers all day and then a swaddlers at night.

@bunnylovesbear: ugh I hate the cruisers at night. We learned the hard way at the cottage last month and didn't have access to any other diapers. It was a whole week of waking up to wet jammies :(

@Corduroy: sorry you're dealing with this, what a pain. I would try sizing up for a couple of nights to see if that helps.

I would size up and if she would sleep through it, I'd get up to change her at 3 or 4am so that the diaper isn't already full of pee when the poop hits. I deal with this too! Buy good mattress protectors!

Size up and then I also have my DD probiotics in the morning with her breakfast in milk or water to encourage her bowels to empty and hopefully restart a cycle of her not pooping early in the morning!

We usually cloth diaper but have this problem if we need to use disposables. It works really well for us to just use a cloth diaper cover over a disposable diaper - we occasionally can get some poo on the cover (which means it is helpful it was there since it kept the pjs dry!) but usually we won't and as long as it is clean we can reuse for a few days before washing. One that we like is the Imagine cover from Nicki's Diapers, in case this is a strategy you want to try.

We have good luck with Pampers Swaddlers. I bought Cruisers by accident last month and they ALWAYS leak...

How snug are the size 4? You might want to try just going up a size and see if it helps?

We ended up going up a size at night for this very reason. We also use the night time pampers

Oh gosh, poor girl! Definitely try an overnight diaper. We've never sized up on the night time diaper, but I've heard that some people do. Also you can get inserts (like a sanitary napkin without the sticky side) to soak up more pee, we used those with LO for several months. Use lots of desitin/rash cream before bed so all that poo doesn't create a bad rash,. Good luck!

Here is a post Mrs.Confetti did onthe subject:

LO is 18 months and has been waking up in 'poop soup' most mornings. Her PJs, sheets and toys are all wet with pee/poop. Her diaper just can't handle poop after absorbing a night of pee. She's in Lil Movers size 4. Do I need to size up at night or try a different brand? Any recommendations? I'm so over the daily laundry.
