Echoing the negatives. Our midwives offer them. They warned that they are not as effective as condoms.

@IRunForFun: thanks for the mention of recurrent yeast! That's already a problem for me so this probably wouldn't be a good idea!

I used one about 10 or so years ago as a last resort because I can't take any hormonal BC or have an IUD. Honestly, I didn't like it. First of all, there's the inconvenience factor - it has to be inserted at least 15 mins before sex, so if you want to be spontaneous, you can't, and if you're in the mood, it kind of kills it to need to go insert it and then wait. Second of all, you have to leave it, along with the spermicide, in for a few hours after, and that caused recurrent yeast infections for me. To sum it up - inconvenient, messy, bad for my health.

I didn't even think you could really get one anymore? I was thinking about it a few years back, and I couldn't find an OBGYN who would give it to me!

I used one a long time ago, it took a while for me to get the hang of putting it in, but once I got it that was fine. I didn't react well to spermicide so i stopped using it.

Anyone use one? Any thoughts? I'm wondering how difficult the learning curve is and how effective you've found it?
