@Freckles: green mucousy poop was a signal of milk intolerance for us, too. I didn't try to eliminate milk until LO was 8 weeks old, and our ped said that sometimes, it takes more exposure for them to develop an intolerance. I eliminated dairy before her diagnosis, because I was at my wits' end and figured it couldn't hurt. We saw a dramatic improvement, and only then was she diagnosed officially.

Good luck! I'm not a doctor, but not giving BM sounds odd to me. I hope that you can figure out what it is. Let me know if you have any questions, should you decide to go the dairy-free route.

@Freckles: I'm not sure? We got diagnosed earlier than that for sure, maybe 8-10 weeks? But it came out the blue completely, or at least it seemed that way. One minute she was fine, the next we had green slimy poop all the time.

E had this, but he was older, maybe 18 months. He had nearly two weeks of throwing up once a day and having bad diarrhea but no other symptoms. I took him into the Dr twice, the second time they prescribed an anti parasitic medication even though his stool samples didn't show evidence of a parasite. He was better within 24 hours.

@MrsRcCar: That's what i thought too! Thank you.
@Madison43: I was actually wondering if it could be an allergy/intolerance as well. Is it weird that signs of milk intolerance would be showing up now at 5.5 months? There have been no changes in my diet.

Mucousy poop lasting weeks was our first sign of milk intolerance. Our doctor diagnosed a stomach bug at first too....

Our doctor has always advocated for breast milk first! Hope your LO feels better soon.

DS is 5.5 months and has been sick for 3 weeks. The first week was the worst with a bad cough and congestion, and the last two weeks he's had diarrhea/neon green mucusy poop. He used to be a poop every 3 days type of baby, and now he's sure to poop after each feed.

I took his to the ped last week, and she said that the recent bout of rotavirus has been lasting 2 weeks. I was a little disturbed when she said to try not breastfeeding him and giving him pedialyte instead. I understand milk upsets tummies, but isn't breastmilk different?

I have an appointment for next Tuesday (unfortunately it will be that same ped as my regular doctor is out of the country). Has anyone had experiences with their LOs having diarrhea for this long? Was it related to stomach bug or something else?
