I had morning sickness throughout my entire pregnancy, and it disappeared the moment I gave birth. The night after my daughter was born was the first time I brushed my teeth in 9 months without gagging. It was awesome. Of course, some of the unpleasant pregnancy symptoms were replaced by unpleasant postpartum symptoms -- chills and sweats, anxiety, nipple pain, pain from tearing during labor. You will eventually get your body back, but it might still be a while!

Oh my goodness the swelling...you just pee it all away so quickly! A couple days later I could pass for never having been pregnant and at 3w pp I have 5 lbs left to lose but I can hide the flab with clothes. :P I was also extremely fatigued at the end of my pregnancy and that went away as well (although now I'm tired because I have a newborn.) The nausea got better and went away after the first couple weeks (although if you are going to EBF I heard that can cause nausea too.)

All of my symtpoms went away immediately (except I still had quite a belly leaving the hospital!) The craziest was that I had really bad heartburn and it was gone literally moments after birth.

The only "new" symptom I had following birth (besides sore lady bits!) was extreme thirst - due to BF.

The bloat in my stomach is still there a little... It was mostly gone by the first month

My sciatica isn't AS bad but it's still present

I didn't get any swelling or heartburn thankfully. But all my other symptoms went away nearly right away. But there is childbirth pain to deal with after so you wouldn't really notice haha

@autumnlove: ditto that. Everything was instantly better except my left wrist which got better over the course of a year. I don't think it would have been so bad if I hadn't had my IV right in the problem area!

My only issue during pregnancy was heartburn; like PP, I popped my last tums during labour and after that never had a problem. So happy that went away right away because I was over it!

The swelling took a few weeks to fade (I was able to squeeze my wedding band back on around 4 wk pp, and at 9 wk it fits just like it used to), but everything else (particularly the constant nausea and aversion to pretty much all foods) faded almost within a day or two.

I did get night sweats/hot flashes for weeks afterwards. I still get hot flashes sometimes (always at night), and I get headaches more frequently than I did when I was pregnant...which I think might be from hormonal changes.

heartburn gone immediately, and things like sciatica. Pregnancy swelling replaced by CRAZY swelling from being on an IV for 24 hours... once that water weight washed away my swelling was pretty much gone. Unfortunately recovery was not great for me the first time around :( but the second time was much easier.

Yes, pretty much. As for when I think it varies with every woman. Some right away some later. My food aversion to seafood with my oldest lasted quite some time after I had him. Took me a while to be able to even walk near the fresh seafood aisle at the market. Heartburn with my second went away right away. The swelling took about two weeks with my first; but about a week with my second. Just drink lots of liquids to help with that.

yes the heartburn, sore ribs, and general achiness all disappeared. I actually forgot about all of that because it was instantly replaced with the C-section pain. The feet swelling didnt go away immediately I dont think the compression boots helped plus I was laying in bed for days

I was actually shocked by how fast all of my pregnancy symptoms disappeared after giving birth - nausea (I had it all through my 3rd trimester), heartburn, food/smell aversions, etc. Swelling is a bit different though, as my wedding rings still do not fit 5 weeks later. Close, but not quite yet.

My GI issues- heartburn, nausea (to the point that I was barfing while in labor) went away as soon as LO was born. I could eat sushi in the hospital a day after delivering without any weird smell issues too.
I didn't really have swelling, so that wasn't an issue.

Yes. The only thing leftover was some swelling in my ankles that took a week or so to go away. It was sooooo nice to have my body back and to be able to sleep however I wanted!!

I did not sleep on my belly for a few months, though because of my milk supply and breast engorgement/pain. I enjoy it now, though.

It took awhile for the swelling to go down. I remember looking at my ankles thinking, "where are you? My LO is out but I still have cankles, how is that?!" But in about a week I saw my ankles again.

It was a pretty instant relief in back pain though. Either that or I just didn't notice it anymore because all the pain was in my who ha tear.
