I have had some issues when I left alone but earlier this month DH and I went away together for 6 days - my mom watched the kids at our house (They stayed in camp FT so their routine stayed the same) and when we got home everything was fine and stayed that way - no issues!

We left our 2 1/2 year old and 11-month old at home for a week when we went to Hawaii this past spring. Everything was fine and right on track when we returned home-- sleeping, eating, potty training, etc. No disruptions to anything.

Our moms came to our house to watch the kids, so that kept things as "normal" as possible.

My husband and I are trying to figure out travel plans. The most I've been away from either kid is two nights, which I've done a few times. This trip would be a little less than a week. My 4 year old seems pumped about all the stuff she's going to do with her grandparents and I think with Skype she'll be fine. My younger daughter will be a bit shy of two and I'm worried that she'll be upset and have a difficult time. I'd just wait but I think this will be the only time dh and I have this sort of opportunity for a couple years.

Did your kids have any negative reactions when both parents were gone for awhile?
