I had a friend who measured small. They acted concerned.... but she's a very tiny person, and so is her husband. I don't think it would have been normal if she measured normal. Her baby came out very healthy. Small, but healthy.

I measured 1-2 cm small the whole time and then towards the end it increased up to 3cm small so they started monitoring me with tons of ultrasounds to make sure DS was healthy and still growing. I was induced at 39 weeks even though he looked healthy because they didn't want to risk keeping him in any longer. He weighed 5lbs 12oz so was definitely small but completely healthy. They had to track his blood sugar the first 24 hours because of his size but he passed every single test. I think he is just naturally small because even at 11 months he is at the bottom of the growth chart and really just doesn't want to eat much. He is perfectly healthy and happy and very very active.

I was measuring pretty small around the 20 week mark... so small that they changed my due date to about five days later than what it had been.

I ended up having my baby about 7 days before my due date and he was 6 lbs 13 oz..... small but not TOO small!

maybe it's a second child kinda thing? i'm about 34 weeks and substantially smaller and gaining slower than with LO#1, who is currently 14 months. they even pushed my due date back 2 weeks because of the measuring small thing. i blame it on running after him all day long and being pregnant in the summer (i eat better in general in the summertime + more exercise in the nice weather!) we'll see when he's born!

i'm sure your doc will monitor you if they are concerned! :)

hope you are feeling good this pregnancy!!!

@Alivoo01: I totally appreciate your experience! At what point were you informed that you would need to be induced at 37 weeks?

Debated about posting my experience since it's yay and nay.

I was always measuring 1 week behind when they measured my fundal height. My OB said +/-3cm was considered normal, anything outside that range would be of some concern. At my 35 week u/s, DS was measuring 3+ weeks behind even though I was measuring on schedule fundal height wise. I got induced at 37 weeks since I'd be full term. DS came out healthy, but small (4lbs 13oz). He struggled to maintain his body temp and had dusty spells his first night and was admitted to NICU. However, he was a fighter, and came home with us upon my discharge from the hospital.

@oliviaoblivia: 9+ lbs baby! GAH! No, not being sent. She's not too concerned...Yet. I did lose 1 lb from 3 weeks ago, which furrowed her brow a little bit but because baby is moving a lot and such, she's not worrying about it yet.

I've measured small the whole time. I've been consistently 2-3 cm smaller than 'normal', but baby looks good. I have a long torso, so that contributes to it, I'm sure. At my 39 week appt last week, I was measuring 36.5 cm, but they're not worried (ultrasound at 35 weeks).

yep! i measured 2-3 weeks behind around that point. i had a growth scan and the baby was measuring normal (she ended up being 6lb 7oz at birth). the u/s tech thinks i was measuring small because the baby had dropped.

My friend measured small her whole pregnancy and then had a healthy 9lb.6oz. baby.

Is your MW sending you for a growth scan?

My belly always measured small (up to two weeks behind). But ultrasound always showed the baby was on track or only a couple days behind. She was on the small side at birth (6lbs 7 ounces) but full term and healthy. As long as your MW isn't worried I wouldn't be either.

I'm 31w5d and after a checkup with my midwife today, I'm measuring a little small. Nothing to be concerned about but something to be monitoring for the rest of my pregnancy.

I'm just curious if any ladies here measured small but had no issues in the end?
