My nieces and nephews did not like to be swaddled but my LO absolutely could not sleep without being swaddled so hey, whatever works. There isn't anything wrong with swaddling if you are doing it properly. Just make sure when your baby is not sleeping that they are free to use their arms and hands. So we swaddled until he started to roll over. Then we swaddled with with one arm out and she loved it...Until she discovered her other hand. Then we swaddled with both arms out and she loved it...Until she discovered freedom and started breaking out of it. She was 3 months old at this point. :) So we stopped. She's way too old to be swaddled but she just loves it. In the beginning she would wake herself up with her jerky arm movements if she wasn't swaddled. I'm kind of on the fence with this. I've seen a lot of infants sleep fine without being swaddled and I wonder how comfortable the baby is if they cant move their hands when they sleep.
