@foodiebee: @Grace: I need to get those intense wipes! I don’t know how else to accomplish it practically when everything is chaos.

DH still seems to be ok! I know it’s not over yet but man he escapes everything the kids get.

@Grace: You just made me remember this article!

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/29/smarter-living/norovirus-prevention-stomach-flu-winter.html

"A little-known fact about noroviruses is that many household cleaners and wipes don’t kill them. Clorox and Lysol Disinfecting wipes claim to kill 99.9 percent of viruses and bacteria, but that doesn’t include noroviruses. Your best bet is to wipe down surfaces with a bleach solution — mix between a half cup and cup of bleach with a gallon of water — or to use health-care-grade bleach wipes, such as Clorox Healthcare Bleach Germicidal Wipes, which are hard to find in stores but are sold on websites like Amazon. Let the bleach sit on the surface for at least five minutes, ideally 10, because it takes time to kill these resilient jerks. Hydrogen peroxide cleaners are another effective option."

My husband escaped last time. Me and the two kids got it.

As for cleaning, most people don’t wait long enough. You have to make the area wet with bleach or hydrogen peroxide (can’t remember the concentration you need) and wait 10 min before you wipe it off. It’s hard to wait that long.

Ugh, that sucks, I'm really sorry.

We've had it go both ways. I've literally scrubbed my hands raw with those lysol wipes that kill norovirus, but in the end I think it's basically a crapshoot whether others avoid it or not...fingers crossed

The last stomach bug, about a year ago, only two of us got it, 1 kid and 1 adult and it hit my kid hard for a week-puke and diarrhea. It was unreal. We went through a lot of pedialite. Somehow my other kid and husband escaped it. The one before that was just me and my other kid. Hit by kid for a few more days than me that time too. Funnily enough I was early pregnant for both of these stomach bugs. Super fun.

DH often avoids. The last bad ones this winter I and the newborn avoided both times somehow? Phew we got lucky. I'm sure it will be a literal shitshow when baby starts daycare soon 😵

The worst stomach bug the boys got, neither DW or I mercifully caught it. No clue how we avoided 🤷🏻‍♀️ I try to clean and sanitize as we go but I’m also realistic that they are contagious before the craziness starts. We also ended up having my parents staying with us that weekend and they didn’t get it either.

I’m sorry...I hate the feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop with bugs.

In our family, usually all three kids get it in some way, shape, or form. I get it at least half the time; DH often/mostly avoids - he does help with cleanup or will take a turn laying with a puking kid (mine always seem to get it in the night!)

I dont know why this is - we are crazy about cleaning when someone is sick; I think he’s just not around as much and the kids are far less in his face/using his stuff/sharing food.

We just had a nasty bug work its way through our house. A week ago Wednesday DD had it, then I had it Saturday/Sunday and then DS this past Wednesday. DH never got it (or hasn’t so far).

If you had one blow through, did you all get it?

We’re at 4 out of 5 right now but it spread more slowly than I expected. First baby, then me, then a 3-4 day lull, then big kids a couple days apart. I’m surprised it took over a week between #1 and #4.

DH is last man standing. He’s supposed to fly on Tuesday and I don’t even know how to think about that since it’s kind of a slow spread! I’m way more in the muck than him with cleanup but surely he’s getting exposed some by now ...
