We've been using the sleep sack in the bed for 2 weeks and the sleep sack has been fine. BUT the bed part is not going so well now. The first 4-5 nights were great! She STTN and there was like, no transitional period at all. But the last 3 nights have been AWFUL. She's suddenly been up 4-6 times a night screaming for us, and I don't know if it's the bed, if she's coming down with something, if her two year molars are coming in.

UGH.

@Anagram: I am all for keeping it if it is a sleep cue. I had a similar thing happen with my son, he all of a sudden wanted to sleep in a bed and was literally screaming and throwing himself out of his crib, so we let him. The sleep sack we'd been using are the ones by Halo, but we had been using them since he could fit into size 2T.

We did. We only ditched them a few months ago so she was almost two-and-a-half. She wouldn't keep a cover on her and they were convenient.

Yup, she still wanted to use it for quite awhile after moving to a bed. We switched to the ones with feet so she could walk, but she never left her bed anyway.

Ours is such a strong sleep-routine cue, I'm afraid to get rid of it, honestly. The only other thing we have left is giving her the lovey and her paci, and I need to work on taking away the paci.

She also hasnt tried to get down by herself. she plays with her lovey or stuffed animals and waits for me to get her. i hope this continues for a very long time! :-) i also use it cause i'm always afraid of her being cold! heh so i think it helps

No, she was already done with sleep sacks when she switched to a toddler and twin bed.

My friend's son uses footed sacks in his twin bed.

Yes, but we used the footed ones, where his feet stick out.

DS is still in a sleep sack! We transitioned him over to a toddler bed with a rail just after 2 when he climbed out of his crib. He gets out of his bed whenever he's ready, and he will sometimes stay in his sleep sack and shuffle into our room (he can walk in his too), and sometimes will take it off himself. He finds the zipper, unzips himself and pulls the buttons apart at the top.

It's worked totally fine for us. I panicked when I found him downstairs one day still in his sleep sack at 5:30am coloring. When I asked him how he got down the stairs, he said so matter of factly, "Mommy, I just turned around." So he went down the stairs on his knees backwards like we originally taught him.

He'll be 3 in September, and I'm having a hard time with what we'll do once he's outgrown the sleep sack. He hates covers!

Our LO just started sleeping in the real bed---her choice. She was fighting the crib and pointing to the bed in her room, so we just started letting her sleep in the bed this week.

She's always worn sleep sacks, so she's still been wearing her sleep sack in the bed. So far, she's never tried to get out of the bed--she just calls for us when she wakes up (more like scream cries, but that's normal for her). She can walk in her sleep sacks--she's walked all the way to our bedroom before...

Anyway, so has anyone else kept the sleep sack after your baby was sleeping in a bed? Is there a reason not to? I like that I know she's covered (she sleeps in just a onesie and the sleep sack) but doesn't have a heavy comforter around her face. And I *think* it's helping to keep her in bed instead of roaming. But we're also in the "honeymoon" stage of the bed transition.
