LO is recovering from a cold. He tends to have violent night wakings when he's ill so he's been weeking up some nights this week. I remember you guys sleeping on the floor next to charlies bed and I was going to try that. I even brought a sleeping bag into his room to show him that I'll be sleeping next to him. No dice. So he ends up in our bed. I wouldn't mind it that much except that sometimes he just plays for several hours before finally going to sleep. It makes everyone so tired the next day.

@mr.bee: Great idea! Because who knows.... my LO may end up wanting to co-sleep again with us sometime in the near future. SIGH!!

My LO is only 6 months, so I'm not qualified to respond. We cosleep, and while it does have drawbacks, I never have to sleep on the floor.

@banana: Yah it's really common... we're going to write a post about it after we've transitioned Charlie!

Interesting. We did the opposite. We went from co-sleeping to him sleeping by himself and thankfully the transition wasn't bad at all. I do hear a lot of parents end up semi co-sleeping with their toddlers though. Might be kind of common?

My toddler started waking up in the middle of the nigh 10 days ago and we have been sleeping on his floor. We just go in there and say go to sleep and sleep on his floor. I need to break this too...we thought it was better than taking him to our bed but my back is killing me!

Hehe. A few times while RJ was sick we had to stand by the crib until he fell asleep. Usually he'll let us sit way over by the door-- as long as when he opened his eyes and we were in view, he wouldn't cry. Man, it takes him a while to fall asleep sometimes.

I am totally and completely freaked out by the transition to toddler bed.

Lo isn't a toddler yet. But I used to go lay on my parents floor in the middle of the night when I was little.

A few times a week now, Charlie forces me or Bee to hold his hand while we lie on the floor next to his crib and sing him songs. We usually sneak out, but sometimes we fall asleep before he does... or he will wake up in the middle of the night and call for me to sleep next to him. Both of those happened to me last night actually... so I ended up spending most of the night cosleeping next to him. Charlie loved it of course.

I feel guilty about this trend, but then one of our neighborhood friends revealed that they have recently started doing the same thing! I feel a bit better about things, but still want to fix this.

Did anyone else not cosleep with their baby, but end up basically cosleeping with their toddler? Bonus points if you lie on the floor and hold the hands of your toddler through the crib slats.
