This is my first baby and I'm 26 weeks along. I feel movements and kicks off and on and at night (some strong at night) but sometimes there are days I only feel light kicks and he's super quiet. I heard so many stories that the kicking would keep me up at night but it never does? I was kinda surprised. Not sure what kind of position my placenta is in since they never mentioned it.

I had an anterior placenta for my first two boys, and I didn't feel any big movements until the 30's and nearer to the end.. you're still pretty early! :)

for my third pregnancy I was shocked to feel movements big and small starting much earlier (18 weeks on) and sure enough placenta was not anterior this time. HUGE difference, for me!

glad to hear all the monitoring shows baby is doing well! :)

I can relate (but not provide much positive feed feedback since I'm only 27 w myself!) this is my second pregnancy and I'm feeling MUCH less movement than the first one ...and carrying smaller and have an anterior placenta this time. I just posted the other day about worrying that I wasn't feeling much movement. I was traveling yesterday and didn't notice movement until like 4pm!! I am trying to think positive and that it has to just be position and placenta location. Seems like just when I get to the point like "im going to call when they open!" she starts moving around a bit. I'm planning to mention it at my 28 w appt though. I agree with trusting your gut. And occasionally a big glass of ice water has solicited a few kicks when I need the reassurance.

I'm 29 weeks also with anterior placenta. My baby is not a crazy mover either. He will go through periods (an hour maybe) with a good amount of movements, but I certainly have days when I don't feel too much. I'm having threatened PTL so they do frequent NSTs - or maybe it's the biophysical profile? I don't know. Haha. Anyway, they have all been fine. I even mentioned it to the ultrasound tech at my perinatologist's office and she said it's probably from the anterior placenta.

Everyone told me "oh just wait, you won't be able to sleep at night because your baby is going to be going crazy moving and kicking!" and although I feel him, it's never been enough to keep me awake or anything like that.

I didn't have an anterior placenta, but my first baby was just a quiet one. I doubt I felt ten kicks a day. I knew what 'normal' was, and I was in tune with that. I'd say to just listen to yourself, know what your normal is, and if it feels like too little, go get checked. But I never once felt 10 movements in an hour with my first. More like 10 a day.

I've had an anterior placenta both times, and I don't get those gigantic movements where my whole belly moves, like some women do. BUT every time I worried and would call the doctor, they would tell me to eat something sugary and drink something cold (like 2 cookies and some cold OJ) and actually lay down, uninterrupted (no TV watching) and do a kick count. Every time, I *was* feeling movement and would finish the kick count in about 10 minutes--it's just that the movements aren't enough for me to notice when I'm doing other stuff like working or watching TV or looking after LO.

I never felt much movement at all with LO1. Similar to Banana330 I would often feel hiccups (maybe every other day), but not often movement. Sometimes I went a day or more without feeling anything. I'm pregnant with LO2 now (23 weeks), and I've been feeling a lot more movement this time around. I think I've already felt this baby move more between 15-23 weeks than I ever felt LO1 move.

I barely felt any movement during pregnancy. I would often feel hiccups but never consistent movements. My midwives had me do kick counts (6 kicks in 2 hrs) and usually if I really payed attention I would get that. I had 2 NST tests near the end, passed both with flying colours. The monitor would pick up movements that I just couldn't feel. It was only at that point I realized that she was moving tons but I couldn't feel her. Before that I thought she was lazy. She was perfectly fine, and is now 8 weeks old!

I do feel slight pangs of jealousy as a friend is getting tons of movements and her DH can feel the baby all the time. My DH only felt her move a handful of times.

@ballerinabee: Thanks for your reply. That is encouraging. That is my problem right now, I don't really necessarily feel like anything is wrong, but since my doctor kind of lets her patients guide their own care (i.e. she says we can do the NSTs if I want, and then says "Let's just put it on the schedule, and you can cancel if you want".), I am second guessing on whether I should be worried and doing these NSTs. My gut feeling is that baby is fine, this is just my normal, and they seem like overkill. But then the thoughts start to creep in that say "Look at these other moms. They are feeling so much movement all the time. Maybe I should be concerned." I guess I just wish my doctor would more definitively tell me what my plan of action (or non-action) should be. It is definitely reassuring to hear from others who did not feel much movement throughout their pregnancy and then had healthy babies.

I think the anterior placenta is making more of a difference than my docs are giving it credit for. On my NST last week, there seems to have been movements I was not sensing...

@mrscobee: I never really felt much movement either; I had an anterior placenta as well. Trust your gut and go in if you feel like something is wrong, but I don't think I could have counted 10 movements in an hour at any point in my pregnancy.

I didn't feel my baby much in my first pregnancy. I had an anterior placenta and baby was breech until at least 36 weeks. This time I have a posterior placenta and a breech baby at 33 weeks and I feel a lot more movement. With my first pregnancy I never had an NST. This time they will start oat 35 or 36 weeks since I'm over 40.

I'm 28 weeks, and I just don't feel that much movement. Never have. Several factors could be contributing to this (first pregnancy, anterior placenta, long torso, calm baby?).

I told my OB and high risk OB, and neither was overly concerned, as I haven’t really felt a decrease in activity (there hasn’t been enough of an increase to ever feel a decrease). My regular OB was a little more concerned though. She suggested kick counts starting at 28 weeks and then to go to hospital if I’m not feeling enough movement. Today has been a quiet day. No way have I reached 10 kicks during any one hour since breakfast. Don’t even know if I have felt baby at all today.

I have had two ultrasounds and one NST in the past two weeks, and everything looks fine. NST took a while longer than normal, but once I drank some cold water and ate a sugar cube, he was plenty active. I have another NST scheduled for next week, which I can choose to attend or cancel based on how much movement I am feeling.

Did anyone else experience this? Is the solution just to attend weekly NST’s for the remaining 3 months of pregnancy? That seems like overkill, and every time I go, they say everything looks great, but maybe it is better to be safe. I have a few days until my next NST, but if I continue to not feel much today, should I go in over the weekend, or rely on the fact that the baby looked great a few days ago?

I am just at a loss. I just don’t feel that much movement and don’t have a way to gauge whether baby is doing okay (like most women). Also just feeling down (though thankful the baby seems healthy thus far) and jipped out of one of the most fun pregnancy symptoms (baby movement). Also sick of random people asking me if I'm feeling baby all the time. No, no I'm not.
