We will be moving cross-country when baby is 5 or 8 months old. So... no clue what works, but it must be possible!

Ok so our story totally falls in line with this thread. When I was 8 months pregnant, we bought our first home and we were excited! But we had some major renovations we had to get done before moving in. Our general contractor told us we could have it all done in 2 weeks, which would end up being 2 weeks before our due date. Talk about cutting it close right? Well....before our renovations even began, my water broke! My LO ended up coming out 4 weeks early! So we had JUST closed escrow and was about to start renovations when we delivered our baby. My husband was literally running back and forth between the hospital and home depot and was texting me pictures of door knob and toilet bowl options for me to choose while I was at the hospital. Not to mention, we didn't even pack yet! My poor husband was running around packing while picking things up at home depot, while wife and baby were at the hospital. LOL! Poor guy!

Anyhow, we made it all work out at the end. and I LOVED being able to start a new family in our new home. Lesson learned, don't cut it so close to due date!!!!

@skibobrown: that's awesome that you don't have to worry about packing! Of course moving will be stressful, it's stressful when you don't have a baby! I would just try to make it a point not to worry about things you can't control. And if you can't get things done right away, it's not the end of the world.

@artbee: The good news is that we'll be able to hire full service movers, and they will pack up all of our boxes. My new job is paying our moving expenses. Still, I'm worried that moving will be pretty stressful with the new baby in tow...

No, but I did move when I was 8 months pregnant. So I was probably just as useless as i would have been if I were busy watching a baby. We got through it by hiring movers, excepting lots of help from family, and trying not to go crazy when boxes weren't getting unpacked as quickly as I would have liked. Just do the necessary things and don't sweat the small stuff. My lo is 5 months old and we don't have all our pictures up.

I am going to watch this thread. We are currently searching for a new home (we live in a 2bdrm now and need a 3) so we are house hunting like crazy. We hope to be in our new home by the time the baby is here, but I'm not sure if we're going to be able to get it done. It totally freaks me out either way. I'll either be in my 3rd tri or moving with an infant.

We're looking at a possible move halfway across the country when baby is 4 months old. I'm sure we'll be able to pull it off somehow, but the idea sounds totally daunting right now. Does anyone have any experience with moving with a baby? Any great tips or suggestions?
