We did the ring, too, but within a couple of months he stopped using the ring and now just sits on the toilet without the ring.

We used a ring, my daughter refused to sit on a little potty because she was a BIG girl (okay by me.) However, if you can avoid it skip the ring all together and just have your LO sit on the big potty if they will. Breaking her of using the ring was tough which made potty training out and about tough!

we did both. I think it's totally doable to just use the ring. At daycare the toilets are pretty much regular toilets, anyway, just closer to the ground. They also sell those toilet seats that have both the adult ring and child ring, lol.

So far, my LO prefers the small potty--we have both. I line the potty with two grocery bags tucked under, and then I just bag up the stuff and throw it in with her diaper trash.

We have a million grocery sacks, so this gives them a use and means no clean up.

We used a ring. I was not excited about cleaning out a little potty. She's never even seen one, so she just understood that pee and poop go in the toilet. We had no issues using the ring.

We did an integrated ring, we replaced the toilet seats in our house and I saw these at Home Depot and we went with it.

I didn't consider what to do when we travelled, but I will tell you since i have a boy, I taught him to pee standing up in public. At home, he sits.

We used a little potty, because we started EC around 6 months, and we needed something with a back.

Now that she's 15 months, she's using a toilet (with small seat) at school, and I want to transition her at home. I don't think she got "really good" at using her little potty, and it was once she started using the toilet at school that she was super consistent.

We did both but got rid of the little potty pretty quickly. We have different seats on different toilets (one Pottete, one random Disney, one munchkin) which I think helps keep her flexible about using other toilets (at stores, friends' houses, etc)

We use both but I find the ring harder to clean because it's 2 pieces and the pee gets trapped in between and makes a huge mess when you try to dump it. The standalone is pretty easy to clean. Just an FYI to make sure the ring you buy is one piece!

We are using the ring on the toilet. They use a small version of a regular toilet at day care so I think the same thing is helpful. She sat on the toilet last night without the ring. Now to get her to pee in it.

Confession: Those little potties gross me out. I'd much rather just get a seat adapter for the toilet & step stool, and train DD on that. Is this even possible? Was anyone else successful in this? Or do I need to suck it up and get a little potty?

ETA: I don't plan on hardcore training until this summer when I'm off work, but she's starting to show she's ready (loves to flush the toilet after I go, tells me when she's about to "poop", hates being "wet") so I'd like to buy something to start and get her used to it before we actually train in a few months.
