I quit after the paid portion was done, between std and vacation time. I could have taken another month unpaid but told then earlier. They ended up hiring my cover. I had four months paid mat leave with the possibility to extend up to 1 year unpaid. I extended 4 months, but then I quit a month into the extension. I had a notice period of 3 months, so I called HR and told them first. Then I called my line manager. I kept it very matter of fact, I didn't get into the "why" of the decision.</p> <p>I found out much later, though, that had I gone back, I would have been made redundant. But I did swear I would be back and I feel guilty about that. But it just doesn't make any sense for me to keep working. </p>
