Just make sure LO is getting the fats for brain development, and WCM isn't necessary.

I would just make sure to give him full fat everything since it's necessary for brain development.

Not intentionally, but LO refused to take WCM from anything except a bottle. We cut his bottles out at 18 months and he just stopped drinking milk at that time. Hated it in a sippy. We have supplemented with yogurt and cheese in his diet.

Yep. She's never had WCM. She drinks almond and coconut milk. We give her only fermented dairy (easier to digest), so kefir, yogurt, and cheese.

We were in the same situation as @hilsy85; LO would nom yogurt and cheese all day but refused to drink milk. Ped said he wasn't concerned since she ate full fat yogurt and cheese every day, sometimes more than 1x a day. LO now drinks milk too.

Yes. We use goat milk, cheese, yogurt and sardines (which are actually a great source of calcium).

@sarah.clarisse: discussing with your doctor is a good idea....the only thing that may come up is daycare will probably be weird about no milk at all during the day.

My LO is also intolerant to dairy (completely, no dairy products at all) and I've put her on hemp milk. Her doctor said she only needs 16-18 oz a day and she drinks 6-7 oz in the morning and 6-7 oz at night at home. So she only needs 1 straw cup of hemp milk at daycare and they seems SOOOO BAFFLED as to why she only has 1 (I tell them to give her plenty of water).

They've asked if they can give her juice if I won't provide more milk, or if I can just bring them the hemp milk and let them give it "if she wants more". Um...NO! If she fills up on milk, she doesn't eat her food....and I don't need her drinking tons of milk every day anyway.

They are so weird. Literally not a week goes by that her daycare doesn't bring it up again, even though she never even finishes the straw cup I give each day.

We didn't skip purposely, but LO refused to drink any WCM until around 19 months. So before that I did yogurt, cheese, and smoothies with yogurt, fruit, and WCM. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you're still nursing 2x a day.

We are quickly approaching the 1 year mark and LO is currently still nursing & taking sippy cups of pumped BM at daycare. I don't plan on weaning him at 12 months but I would like to stop pumping. Since he will hopefully still be getting a morning and night nursing session I'm wondering if we can skip the wcm during the day and stick with water and some dairy snacks instead. I'll be discussing this with his pediatrician at his 1 year appt of course but I'm wondering if anyone else has done something similar?
As a bit of background - DS seemed to be slightly intolerant to dairy in my diet so I cut out all dairy until about 7 months and slowly started introducing it back into my diet without ill effects. We haven't done too much dairy as part of his solids and I would like to skip the major transition from none to full glasses of milk because that just seems like a big leap for the little guys digestive system!
