Ive been tkaing the unisom at night and the b6 in the morning. I have to take my thyroid meds at night because i cannot wait an hour to eat on the morning (stupid rules) and im not supposed to take vitamins woth my meds either. I may call my ob though and see about whether it would be safe to take with my meds since it isnt a multi.

The unisom made me way too sleepy to take it in the morning, so I took half a tab of unisom at night and 25 mg of B6 3x a day. It only kind of helped. I didn't think I felt better at all until I tried to stop the unisom at night and spent the entire next day throwing up.

I would still try unisom and B6 though before taking zofran. I am all for taking zofran if you need it, but the side effects can be rough. I didn't have any side effects from B6/unisom, so I wanted to try that first.

@yellowbird: I took a zofran in the am and a half tab of unisom and 50 mg b6 in the evening from about 16 weeks until delivery. I tried cutting out one or the other at various times and ended up nauseous and puking by noon. I'm not into medication generally, but they made the pregnancy bearable and allowed me to eat and keep down food, so it was a win for me personally.

@Mrs. Lion: I did most of the time, out didn't make a huge difference for me if I took them together or a few hours apart but I think my b6 is way higher than 50 mg.

This combo has worked really well for new although I can only take out at night because I never got used to it enough that I wasn't sleepy. I took half a tablet of the unison until some point in the second trimester where it was not working as well and then jumped to a whole tablet for a few weeks. I am 31 and still do the b6 and unisom at night and one zofran during the day.

I was hoping to switch to the diclegis because it's time released but my insurance won't cover it and it's crazy expensive for some strange reason, I want to say $400+.

If you do take the zofran make sure you take something to keep you regular- I am on a low dose and I still need to be vigilant. For me, 500 mg of magnesium works really well and magnesium has other benefits in pregnancy too so maybe check with your doctor to see if they are OK with you taking that. Stool softeners did nothing for me.

I still am! In fact, at 13 weeks, I am now trying to stop taking it... I'm at about every-other day because I am still feeling icky on the day off. I started taking it at about 8 weeks and it really really helped. I also had an rx for zofran, but it is very expensive, my insurance hardly covers it, and will only let me get 10 pills at a time... the unisom/b6 combo has worked well for me and is much more cost effective! I take it right before bed with my prenatals, and don't usually start to feel sick again until the next night. Hope it works for you too!

It did not work for me, but zofran helped (not a cure though, still nauseous!). I know it can taste gross, but try to have something to eat or drink right after might help. Since it is a disintegrating tablet it should act pretty quickly.

It worked for me. I took it from weeks 6 - 15 I think. My B6 was the 100mg though because that was all I could find. I tried Zofran once & was so constipated that I never tried it again.

My nausea was terrible too. When none of the usual remedies were helping, I started taking b6 and unisom plus wearing seabands. It helped a bit, but wasn't enough to make me functional again. A few days later, I got the diclegis prescription (chose it over zofran because it is category A). It's the same ingredients as b6 and unisom but in an extended release format.

It is pricy, but their website has a coupon that makes it $30. After about 5 days on the max dose, I finally became rather functional again. Around 12 weeks, I was able to reduce to a smaller dose.

I hear good things about zofran (minus the constipation issue) but wanted to try the other first since diclegis is cat A and zofran isn't.

I think the extended release of the diclegis probably works better because your body never really "runs out" of the stuff whereas the OTC versions might go through you quick and leave you stranded at some point.

Also, it made me drowsy the first few days but quickly stopped having that effect.

I took it from week 6-week 14. Some days it only took the edge off, but most days it saved my butt. Several times I skipped it to see if the nausea was gone, and paid severely for it. I will definately have it in stock again next pregnancy.

I took 1/2 Unisom tablet (none of the fancy varieties, just straight up tablet form of doxylamine succinate) and 50 mg Vitamin B6. For the Vitamin B I just took my usual 1 ml B Complex w/B12 (Sundown Naturals brand).

I stopped taking the unisom because i got scared i would start to need it, but am still taking the b6....i dont know that it has really helped at all for me :( i did buy some psi bands though, and those really do seem to take the edge off for a short time when it gets really bad.

@yellowbird: It worked for me for a while until I finally had to give up and take the Zofran. My OB prescribed Diclegis which my insurance didn't cover, but until things got really bad the Unisom and B6 seemed like a decent substitute. Diclegis is never going to be a substitute for Zofran though!

My SIL is on her 4th pregnancy, and has been sick through almost the entire pregnancy for her first three. She's about 18 weeks now with her 4th, and has been super sick. A doctor finally prescribed her unisom + b6, and it's been like magic for her. She's taken Zofran every pregnancy, and it never worked. She's finally feeling well enough to get out of the house.

I've read some Google reviews that say the b6 and unisom really work. Just wondering if anyone had personal experience? My nausea is all day long and I'm dry heaving multiple times a day. I feel so useless and disgusting.
