Way way back, I imagined I might like to do a woodland theme, but pretty much abandoned that when all the inspiration photos I found were way too modern-looking for my taste, and also the theme kits were all really expensive. So I went at it similar to @turkeylurkey and @youboots and just chose things that I like and created a room that I enjoy spending time in. Then this week, DH pointed out that I had accidentally ended up creating essentially a more creative take on a woodland theme after all. Ha, oops. I guess I really like nature. I made the nursery decor what I wanted. I figured that in a couple years they will develop their own likes and I'd cater to that.</p> <p>As for the Mickey Theme... I would focus mostly on the colors. You will get dolls and accessories from people that you can use on the shelves, etc. For example, I went with Aqua, Gray and white. Did not tell anyone anything other than the colors. As shower gifts we got blankets with airplanes in those colors. An airplane mobile in the colors, gray and aqua elephants. Also by incorporating a modern/loose interpretation I think it will age better for an older child which will make it more cost effective in the long run.</p> <p>I opted to skip doing a babyish nursury and just decorated the way I like it, with pieces that can be used anywhere in the house later. Once baby has some preferences I'm happy to make some changes for now I want to be happy in the space. That said, please do what makes you happy and will make your heart light up, I love walking into a space that feels perfect.
