@lawbee11: here's the Avent one we got. Nothing fancy actually, I probably would have picked a different one if I shopped myself. However, since she drank out of it I'll be picking up another!

Too bad I wasted so much money trying different bottles!

@delight: Yay! We are going to keep trying the sippy cup, too. I think being able to hold the handles is key...M got a huge smile on her face when she realized she could do it herself. Do you have a link to the Avent one? Maybe we'll try that one, too. I am desperate!!

@lawbee11: L got a sippy cup in her stocking so I tried this morning! She downed 2oz in like 2 mins! A Christmas miracle, I can leave the house again! I'm totally stopping all attempts with bottles and going straight to sippy. I used an Avent one. She can't hold handles and do it herself but looks like she might be able soon!

My son drank his water, not breastmilk out of this cup and loved it. He started using it around 5 months. He never drank breastmilk from anything other than the boob after not giving him any bottles from 4-6 months... My own fault on that one...

@lawbee11: He was probably around 6 months old before I didn't have to pull it up for him. But, before that I could just tilt it for him, and he'd be able to drink.

@Dandelion: Do you remember how long it took him to get the hang of it? She definitely understands that she's supposed to bring it to her mouth, she just doesn't get the sipping part.

@delight: I was surprised, too, but the packaging says 4 months+

@MoonMoon: I hope so!

Also, I remember our pediatrician told us we could start him on cups at 4 months, but we didn't need to so we put it off until now.

We got our lo (6.5 mos) these cups this week and he immediately knew exactly what to do-it was amazing! I'm thinking of just using these for bm instead of bottles, especially when traveling. Your lo might get the gang of them faster than you think!

@lawbee11: I'm going to follow this! LO is same age and refuses the bottle. I'd love to start a sippy cup. I didn't know I could already!

I started DS on those Nuby cups at 6 months, and he loves them! He will happily take a little water or BM out of them. I think they could be a good option for you!

Yep, that's exactly the cup I used with DS. I started sippy training him at 4 months and it was a nice transition. He wouldn't take bottles, but he seemed to enjoy the sippy.

I never had to leave him someone with it, though...I would just express some in there, to give him a chance to experience it...just in case I ever did need to leave him with someone.

Yes. I cannot recall the age, but as soon as I realize he would drink water out of a Nuk sippy (soft mouth piece so it was an easy transition), I offered the occasional BM bottle in the NUK and never went back to my original bottles. He was probably 7 or 8 months old. I think it also was easier for us because he really only had a few bottles a week. So, his attachment to a bottle was not really a factor.

I went through this with LO 2 and it took her a week to get adjusted at daycare. She is a bottle champ now...but not from me!

I would just stick to the bottles.

We are *still* dealing with a bottle strike (LO is EBF and a boob addict). We've tried at least 5 different types of bottles without much success. Very frustrating! I talked to an LC and she suggested trying a sippy cup instead (she recommended the Nuby brand).

We bought a couple from Target, but LO is only 4 1/2 months--any chance she'll be able to figure out how to use one this young? DH tried using one today and it wasn't a success but she didn't scream and cry like she does with the bottle. I think she liked that she could hold it herself and she would bring it to her mouth and bite it.

She'll be 5.5 months when I go back to work part-time and 6.5 months when she starts daycare. Do you think we should keep pushing the bottle or try to get her to use a sippy cup instead? (The thought of not having to bottle wean her is nice.)

This is the type of cup we tried. Other suggestions are welcome!
