I obviously have no idea whether my labor is imminent or still far off, but I've actually noticed so much more movement in the last week. She's been super chilled out and gentle my entire pregnancy, but in the last week or so it feels like she's constantly trying desperately to escape. Maybe it's just because she takes up my entire belly now, so I can feel everything, but it hurts!

The week before movements slowed a lot, and he was and active boy.
I was semi worried but was still meeting the kick count so it was ok.

she was so lazy the week before I delivered that they actually did an NST because she wasn't moving aside from the hiccups! she failed that, too, and I had to go for another NST and a BPP ultrasound because they were worried. turns out she just didn't have any room, and didn't care to make room :)

@pinkb: Yeah, that is interesting -- he always has a lazy day each week too, I figure it's the day after his growth spurt! I poke him on those days and he lazily pokes/kicks back :)

DD was never really a kicker more just a wiggler. I would say the day before she slowed down but she seemed to always have a lazy day every week. But the next day was when I went into labor and I was still worried cause DD wasn't moving as much so I kept poking at her and that was the first time she actually changed positions from me poking so I knew something was up.

Nope he was super active in utero and the sonographer always commented onit. He kicked and punched up until he came out- it looked really bizarre when they broke my water and you could see his limbs more clearly! I could watch him fight some of the contractions and try to scoot back upwards :)

Yes I think she did, it was actually a good week or two before labor she was "lazy" as I called it. I do not think it indicates labor is far away if they are active though. Every baby is different :)

We had our 38-week weekly BPP ultrasound last week (they're doing them now instead of NSTs because they're quicker and more accurate), and the tech commented how I was her 3rd BPP of the day and our baby was by far the most active of all of them. He was doing this weird thing with his hands nonstop where it looked like he was playing the flute!! (And I can feel that, too, so... thanks, baby). He pounds around in my stomach like he's trying to find an exit anywhere he can. He has definitely NOT slowed down as my pregnancy has progressed!

DH asked her if, because he's still so active, that means that labor is a ways off, and she said not necessarily.

My "out-of-curiosity" question for the day is, did your baby slow down in the days/hours before labor? Looking back, when did you notice they were quieter? Or were they rocking and rolling right up until the end?

He's really low, up against my cervix, and I'm 90% effaced, so obviously all that movement is helping things along at least! But since he's so low, it HURTS when he's constantly on the go!
