It hasn't affected - actually if it were up to my husband, we would've adopted only and I wanted to have a bio-baby. I've worked in youth social services and want to affect "the system" positively in any way I can. I hope to do foster care as well, but my husband isn't sure about that. But, we'll be adopting at least one (I'm hoping we'll find a sibling set that would be a good fit for our family) child through the domestic public avenue.

@ladyfingers: Same. I would rather adopt than pursue fertility treatments.

We've been open to the idea; and of course like you! I am even more open to adoption!

I was adopted myself, and have always been interested in adoption in the event that we couldn't conceive/carry a child naturally. But it's never been anything that I've felt compelled to do as a calling. Pregnancy hasn't really changed that for me. I love being pregnant, even though the physical aspect has been challenging. I wouldn't have a problem being pregnant a second time (though, maybe talk to me in another 4 or 8 weeks or so). However, once again, if it was a challenge for me to get pregnant a second time, I would probably want to pursue adoption before any intense medical interventions.

I think I was more open to the idea of adopting before I had LO. Before I really wanted to adopt, but now that I've had my own, gone through pregnancy (which was awful awful awful for me due to migraines) I just loved having my own.

I'm still open to the idea and very willing to adopt if for some reason I can't have as many babies as I want. But now I'd like to try on my own first, where before I would have said I just wanted one of my own and then I'd adopt.

I would love to, especially after the toll pregnancy has taken on my body.
I just wish SO had the same opinion.

I've always wanted to adopt. I used to tell my mother that there was no way in hell a baby was coming out of me. I wanted to be like Josephine Baker who adopted kids of different backgrounds and had a little UN family.

After my pregnancy and complicated delivery I was convinced that I NEEDED to adopt if we had a second child. DH is not really on board with it, he says "maybe" but also the expense is a deterrent.

I feel like I always have--would love to adopt! Although despite all the crappy parts of pregnancy, I am (knock on wood) enjoying it for the most part. I may want to have more bio kids than I would have previously though. But ask me again when pregnancy is over--I'm only halfway through. :)

I've always been open to the idea of adoption just because I know there are so many living children that need good homes...but being pregnant made me a lot more interested in it. Ha.

I've had an easy pregnancy in comparison to others, but I didn't realize how taxing it is on your body and how worn out everything seems to get (skin/muscles/bones/etc.) So if we could grow our family without me having to be pregnant again, I am very open to that.
