Yes, it was hard at first. Our daycare does sleep/feedings on demand for the first year, but because of state laws, all children must sleep in a crib for every nap. DD was used to being held during naps, sleeping in her bouncy chair or car seat, etc... She slept alone in her cribs for naps before daycare, but usually only after being held/rocked for a pretty good period of time. When she started daycare she had a little trouble at the beginning, adjusting to new providers, a new environment, and a new sleep routine. Sometimes she'd even have to nap between when I picked her up from daycare and bedtime.

She did adjust in about a month, and now she naps like a champ at daycare. In fact, I really attribute daycare to recognizing when she was ready to nap on a cot instead of in a crib and when she was ready to fall asleep independently, instead of being rocked. It will get better for your LO, but it might take a little while until she fully adjusts.

Are they following a schedule that you have provided for nap times? Your LO just started right? I would give it some time. Daycare is probably still learning about her sleepy cues and your LO is adjusting to her new environment.

My LO sleeps about the same at home and at daycare. In fact, she sleeps more there than at home.

Aww. :( I hope her sleep at daycare gets better.. I'm sure it's tough getting good zzzs when there are other kids around and lots of unfamiliar noises.

Before I put LO in daycare (12 weeks old) she was taking 1-2 hour naps during the day. But now, the progress reports at daycare are showing she's only taking 20-45 min naps. When I get her home, she's SO cranky and overtired and I feel so bad for her.

Did your LO have trouble sleeping when they went to daycare? Did it get better???
