Yup. I switched her in the Accent because she seemed to be squished. Protests stopped immediately. Kept her RF in the SUV and she had no problems (I assume because she had more room in the bigger car).

It helped so much, but what helped even more was a few months later when they started getting into TV. That made the long trips so much better.

Yes, it made a huge difference. We turned him shortly after 2 when he hit the RF height limit and it made the car so much more peaceful. It could also do with getting more verbal around the same time, but he honestly doesn't ever whine or cry in the car anymore. He's mesmerized by being able to see everything.

Thanks guys!

I think I may hold out a few more days/weeks and see if we can get past this and keep him rear facing longer. He's two but I had hoped to go until he hit the rf limits of his seat.

No, I think it's the age rather than the direction of the seat. We are forward facing now (he's two) but he's is still just as hard to get in. He is happier during the ride though.

Oh my gosh, this is us too. She is a champ in the car once she's in. Getting in is THE worst and I have felt tempted to turn her to see if that helps, but I am going to try my best to wait until she's 2!

@Applesandbananas: I totally understand! He would arch his back or put his feet against the seat to prevent us from putting him in. It was tough for a while, and I'm not sure if it's because he hated his car seat or if it was more along the lines of him trying to express himself when he didn't want to do something. He wasn't as verbal around 2 as he could have been and I think that might have had something to do with it too.

But we counted down the days until he turned 2!!

@2PeasinaPod: that's our biggest challenge, just getting in! He doesn't care too much once he's buckled in, but getting to that point is the battle!

We turned him shortly after he turned 2, and he definitely had a new perspective on things that kept him occupied for a while. I think he enjoys being forward facing far more than he did rear facing. He likes to climb into his seat himself now (he's 2.5) and we'll buckle him in. We had issues intermittently with him getting into his rear facing car seat. We have zero now that he's forward facing.

Nope. We turned her when I got tired of making sure she didn't fall out as she attempted to hurdle herself into her rear-facing seat.

My LO has always hated the car seat, and I can't wait to try FFing her to see if it improves! I am probably going to switch her the day she turns 2.

We FF around 21 months and car rides are definitely more enjoyable for both of us. She hated RFing though but I wanted to do it as long as possible.

Definitely made it better when we had to drive while he was awake. He can see and talk to us about what is out the window.

LO is 2 and fights getting into the car seat. He's rear facing and I'm wondering if forward facing would reduce the tantruming/battling to get him buckled in.

Any experience?
