@birdofafeather: @bhbee: I think I figured out the problem... She couldn't do the tick tock noise that Anna makes to mimic the clock. The things that upset toddlers, eh?

@78h2o: me too! we haven't been able to watch any movies (LO is 2.5) because she gets so upset by everything that is happening. Frozen was no exception (and I never got around to finishing it myself!). she would say "oh no! mommy no!" and get really upset if something like people falling in water. and she also just can't get some of the physical comedy like if the snowman's carrot goes through his face or something - she thinks he's hurt. I'm not sure at what age she will be able to "get it" that it's just a story and most of those scary things will resolve within a minute or so or are just a joke.

J just saw it for the first time last week. She didn't cry, but she did say "oh no" whenever the music changed to sad/scary...sometimes before I even noticed the change. She said, "uh oh, water" when people fell in the water (turns out this happened 3x!) and whined/sounded scared a few times, like when the snow monster was chasing them. I covered her eyes and she was ok.

That's too bad your girl was sad...I do think they can perceive more than we give them credit for, but who knows...could. Have been your singing! ;) (J will tell me "NO" when I'm attempting to sing)! Haha!

LO is obsessed with Elsa, she's only seen Frozen once but I show her the songs on my iPad if I need her to sit while I get on with stuff.

Anyway, tonight she started crying, not tantrum crying, totally "oh my god my heart is breeeaaaking" crying, when I sang Do You Want to Build a Snowman during tea. She was so, so upset, bottom lip shaking, huge tears. I tried to figure out which bit upset her so much and it's either the tick tock bit or the "okay bye" line. Surely she's too young to understand the whole emotion of that song???

Anyone else's kid get upset at Frozen? Maybe it was my singing! :silly:
