No, I'm only a light sleeper when it comes to her sounds, I wake up to her cough in the middle of the night, but a massive thunderstorm...nope.

Kind of... if I have the monitor by the bed I will wake up to most noises; even just a bit of cooing. But if DH is up with LO and I am lying in, I can sleep through all kinds of screeching, giggling, shouting etc.!

I was the same way, but it got so much better once DD consistently started STTN and I didn't have to be "on" all the time. Now that I have a newborn again I'm sleeping lightly again. We've kept the baby monitor on DH's side of the bed for the last 2 years because he can sleep through the little noises that don't mean anything.

Being a resident turned me into a light sleeper. Being a mom made it 100xs worse.

@ellewoods84: I'm totally the same way, and it's SO frustrating to not be able to sleep when LO is actually sleeping, ha!

@Pumpkin Pie: oh yes to the phantom cries!!

Yup. I even hear the phantom baby cries. It was really bad in the beginning, but I've started to relax a bit more.

Oh yeah. Even if she manages to have a good night, I am constantly waking up and checking the monitor. Then lay there and wonder hmm she will probably else up soon. Or not. Why isn't she waking up? Haha, it's really annoying. I'm hoping when she consistently starts sleeping better that I will feel less anxious about it all.

Not a light sleeper per se but I always hear my kids - sometimes even before the monitor picks up the noise.

It has totally made me into an anxious, paranoid, light sleeper. I'm always awake at the first peep on the monitor... that's if I can manage to fall asleep at all during my "shift" (my husband and I take shifts each night sleeping on the couch on baby duty, so that the other can get a 4 - 4.5 hour stretch in our room). I'm always anxiously awaiting LO's next wake up. *sigh*
