@mamajaja: I just asked if they were her first teeth because when that kind of pain is new, it would be really difficult. LMW cut her first teeth so even though sucking soothes her, she'd suck a few times and cryyy cry cry because her gums were so sensitive and painful. Subsequent teeth would be ok to sleep train with I think because they're constantly teething until who knows when!! Whenever one tooth breaks through, usually another is on its way, so you will never find a "good" time to sleep train.

I would still go for it, I don't think you missed the window and I don't think teething is an issue when trying to sleep train.

@mamajaja: here's a post i wrote about it.

how do you know when to sleep train? that's a tough question to answer because there are so many factors -- how bad your lo's sleep is, how exhausted you are, etc.

i'll write a post on it asap. i have a lot of thoughts on it!

@T-Mom: haha yes! I'm at the point where I can't take it much longer and I know she can sttn, she's done it many times before.

@mrs. wagon: no they are not her first, she has had her 2 lower teeth out for a month now.

Is there a reason subsequent teeth are ok to sleep train with?

@Mrs. Bee: yes please do! I hope I didn't miss that window either! LO is 7.5 months and just mastered rolling both ways too. So I'm finally ready to use sleep sack with her too.

How do you know when it's ideal for your LO?

@Mrs. Bee: Oooh, I would love to see that post! LO is 5 months old tomorrow, so I'm waiting 2 more weeks to start sleep training to be in the "best" window! Not to mention, I'm taking off two weeks for the holidays, so I can do it right and not rely on my mom.

ps -- you made me think of a post to come on sleep training in the ideal time period. we didn't with charlie and we did with olive, and it made a big difference!

I agree. You can't really be sure she's teething. I've been saying that LO's been teething for the last 4 months! I would go ahead and sleep train. Better do it before she gets sick!

I agree with @Mrs. Bee. Teething goes on forever, it's impossible to avoid. Sickness, I definitely would avoid with sleep training. Even though there is kind of an "ideal" age to train, the true "ideal" time is when baby is able to sleep through the night and you can't take it any more! :-)

Like @mrs. wagon said. Also, if you're worried about it, I would maybe give her some teething tablets or Tylenol before bed to hopefully alleviate any waking due to teeth.

are they her first teeth? if so I'd wait until the first one or two broke through. If they're not her first teeth I'd go ahead and sleep train.

LO is 7.5 months, and we've been prepping ourselves to start sleep training (and swaddle weaning) this weekend. However, she has been showing pre-teething signs the last two days for her upper teeth. Does that mean we will have to wait until the teeth come out to start sleep training? I've read that you shouldn't sleep train when they are teething.

I'm a little worried since LO didn't actually cut a tooth until a month after her first pre-teething signs. I'm not sure we will be able to last that long =( She's been getting harder and harder to put down and doesn't stay asleep as long as before either. I'm also worried that we'll be missing the right timing for sleep training, as I've seen on HB that an optimal time is between 5.5 - 7.5 months.

Any advice would be appreciated!
