I always intended to be a SAHM and after having my daughter 6 months ago I can't imagine not staying home with her. I have I desire to go back to work. I don't judge women who have/want to work but for personally, I just can't imagine not being with her every day.

As much as I love my little monkey, maternity leave made me realize that I am not cut out to be a stay at home mom.

When I was on maternity leave, I dreaded returning to work but returned when LO was 4 months. I've been working for amount 5 months now and I actually had 3 days off (in between jobs) and I'm sooo ready to go back to work. I love LO to pieces but I need to work for my sanity.

YES - totally changed my mind. I'm a teacher, so I took the first few months of the school year off and returned to school in January after winter break. (My son was born 7/31). I totally wish I took the full school year off to stay home. It definitely would have taken some penny pinching to make it work, but it's a tough balance to be a working Mom. And luckily, with my job, I can take up to two full school years off and still have job security. Next time around, I'm definitely taking a year...we'll just have to save up some extra money in preparation for it.

Also - testing out being a SAHM while pregnant just isn't the same thing. You can't truly understand how your life and feelings will change until that baby is born.

I never thought I'd be a sahm and mat leave confirmed that for me. All day alone with a baby isn't ideal for my mental health!

I always thought I'd be ready to work again after six months but right now I think I want to stay home until she's in school. I love, love, love spending time with her and I don't want to miss a minute.

I think it made me want to return to work. I enjoyed my time with my LO and the first few weeks of work were tough but I am happy with working.

I always thought I'd love to be a SAHM. 2 weeks into LO's life and I know without a doubt that's not the life for me. I love him dearly and will miss him something awful during the day, but I need work.

I didnt take maternity leave. I quit my job for health reasons before getting pregnant and never tried to get a new one because I knew I wanted to be a sahm.

Honestly.... The first few months of los life were rough and I considered going back to work. She had reflux and I didn't know it at first and she would scream and scream for hours and nothing I did would soothe her. I just felt like I wasn't cut out for it. I never told dh that though, until months later at least. We found out lo had reflux, got her on meds, and life got a lot better. Still hard fore other reasons, its just not an easy job. But I do love it and I'm so glad I stuck with it through the toughest times.

Yes, I thought I'd want to be a SAHM, but after a couple months I realized I was looking forward to returning to work. I'm lucky to be taking a 6-month maternity leave though - I definitely wouldn't have been ready to go back after 12 weeks.

Everyone's different - I have a friend who planned to go back and the minute her baby was born decided to SAH.

Right now, DH and I are contemplating me taking a year off to be with LO. (I'm in the US so standard maternity leave is 12 weeks, I'd be quitting my job and finding a new one after LO's first birthday).

He doesn't think I'll enjoy staying home and really wants me to test drive being a SAHM during maternity leave.

Did maternity leave make you want to be a SAHM or a WOHM? Was that different than what you'd thought pre-baby?
