Go! Miine was a gush, but my doctor said to go to the hospital when it broke. My cotractions started about an hour or 2 later.

So has it been confirmed that your water broke 11+ hours ago and your doctor didn't want you to come in and/or go to the hospital? Uh, I'd be camping out there especially since it's a holiday. When my water broke my doctor still went by the 24 hour rule of delivery.

Well, I haven't felt any contractions, except for my Braxton Hicks that I've had for a long time now and they aren't coming any more frequent than they have been. I called the hospital and they didn't sound too concerned.... they said to come by if I feel any pain with my contractions. But after @cyneswith comment, I'm worried now. My husband is sick with a really bad cold and the hospital is 45 minutes away. I think I'm going to try to see if I can get him to take me over there in a little bit. I just wish that I had something absolute to hold onto during pregnancy - haha

I'd call/go in. A friend of mine had trickle so slow she didn't notice, and there was no "water" when she'd been having supposed Braxton Hicks contractions for 24 hours... She finally went in after 36 hours, and found out she'd been in active labor the whole time. So it'd probably be easier on everyone to check it out early and be mistaken than to ignore it and it be the real thing.

Fingers crossed! So excited for you guys (and more than a little jealous right now) if it was your water breaking!

Call! Mine was a gush, so there was no mistaking it, but it would be better to go in and be sent home then go in to late. Plus, if it's your water, the baby has to be delivered within 24 hours, whether you contractions begin on their own or not.

i had some underwear soaking at 36 weeks but it was.. I still don't know what. It definitely wasn't my water. I would call your OB. i was calling mine for everything the last 3 weeks :)
Good luck!! You might have a New Year's baby!

I'm an L&D RN and it sounds like your water broke. Contractions don't always start right away. But you should continue to feel some leaking. Only way to be sure though is to go in to be seen. :)

First, let me apologize about all these posts lately. But I hate to call my doctor again if it's really nothing but at the same time, I"m so confused.

So, I was just sitting on the couch and I felt a gush of something from "down there", twice. I checked and my underware was completely soaked and there was some brown blood in it (I'm guessing from the cervical check at the hospital), but it hadn't soaked through to my pants. So I don't know if that's my water breaking, or just another one of those weird pregnancy things. I haven't had any contractions or anything out of the ordinary, except that.

I've been told that the water breaking can be a gush OR a trickle... so confusing! What do you think?
